Re: Learning Resumes Next Week

Dear Endeavour Students & Families,

We continue to miss each and everyone of YOU! It breaks our hearts as reports come in from people who are really struggling right now. Hang in there! You've got this, Endeavour!

Our district priorities to this point have been to set up our food delivery and the child care programs for our families. The district then set a priority on students currently in their senior years, and now we start the process of unpacking what learning looks like for our students across our district. The purpose of this letter is for a follow up of Superintendent Alfano's message (CLICK HERE) on Thursday, March 26th, 2020. The State has indicated that remote learning must begin the week of March 30th, 2020.

So, with that in mind, our elementary staff, principals and our Teaching, Learning & Innovation (TLI) team have been working behind the scenes tirelessly as we adapt to these unprecedented times. The teachers are so excited to resume educational services while still learning on the fly about what that might look like. The good news is that the students in Fife have the very BEST teachers in the world, who constantly look through the lens of students first, adapt as needed, and are always willing to learn.

PHASE 1: ACADEMIC SUPPORT

We are excited to share with you our elementary activities that prioritize flexibility for your family's circumstances while still providing academic support and connections. Teachers will be reaching out to you with suggestions for academic support via email this upcoming Wednesday, April 1st, by 9:00 AM.

Teachers are not collecting work or giving specific feedback on assignments, at this time. This may look different in the future as we experience changes by the day and adjust as needed.

PHASE 2: GETTING CONNECTED

Teachers will be making contact with each of there students weekly to offer support and provide some personal connection opportunities. It is important that you check your emails, phones and other devices for communication by the district and your teachers. We are working with our Technology Department to process who has access and who might need further technology supports. This is still a work in progress as we continue to collect information from our families.

You can expect that teachers will reach out to their students through a variety of means. The suggested activities for the weeks of April 1st-3rd & April 13th-17th will focus on review material. This means students have already been given instruction on this content prior to the shutdown of schools. Teachers are creating these assignments being thoughtful of the “life circumstances” that so many of us are experiencing.

Date: Wednesday, 4/1 - Friday, 4/3. Off for spring break, and then resume 4/13 - 4/17

PHASE 3: ON-GOING REMOTE LEARNING UNTIL THE SHUTDOWN ENDS

Date: Monday, 4/20 - end of shutdown

This phase will introduce more academic supports. Teachers will further be working on how they’ll deliver learning activities and a plan for how to best support and connect with students during that window.

Our approach will be grounded in compassion, communication, and common sense; rather than compliance and accountability. We're ALL in this together!
