World Kindness Day
To celebrate World Kindness Day this year, which falls on Friday, November 13th, we are going to do a district-wide kindness challenge! During the week of November 9-13, we will encourage students to spread kindness by completing acts of kindness. Here is a link to the district-wide challenge. On Friday, November 13th, all students and staff are encouraged to wear positive statement shirts or red to show support.
Thanks,
WGSD School Counselors
All About KINDNESS
Here at school, the Month of November we are learning about kindness - what it means, why it’s important, and how we can show kindness to those around us! Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Below are many ways that you can help your child continue to learn about the theme of kindness, through reading about it, talking about it, and practicing it! We have really enjoyed exploring this topic at school, and I hope your family will enjoy it just as much!
Practice Kindness:
Spend a day with your child doing random acts of kindness. Help your child come up with a plan of acts that you can do together, then go do them! You can pay for someone’s coffee, leave kind notes on someone’s windshield, bring your neighbor flowers, etc.
Talk About Kindness:
Here are some discussion points to help you talk about kindness with your child:
•What does kindness mean and why is it important?
•Are you a kind person? Explain your answer.
•Tell about a time when it was hard for you to show kindness. What did you do?
•How do you feel when others are kind to you? How do you feel when others are not kind to you?
•What is the kindest thing anyone has ever said or done for you?
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, I am happy to help. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your family.
Thank you,
Mrs. Tricia Kedrowicz- School Counselor at Evergreen

EVERGREEN EVENTS
Snacks, Birthday Treats & Water Bottles
Students should bring a snack to school. Teachers will schedule a "snack break" for students based upon the grade level's schedules.
If you want to celebrate birthdays by sharing a treat with the class, the treat needs to be factory individually wrapped such as Swiss cake rolls or snack bags of fruit snacks. Sorry, no large trays of cupcakes this year. Your child's teacher will also communicate if there are any allergies in the class you would need to be flexible with.
The water fountains (bubblers) have been replaced with bottle fillers at school. We are asking students to bring a water bottle each day to school for their personal use. We are asking that the water bottle come to school empty so we do not have issues as students will also have their Chromebook in their backpack as well. Please make sure the water bottle can be securely closed to avoid spillage in the classroom. The teacher will support students in filling their water bottle as necessary.
