South Lebanon Elementary
December 2023
Principal's Spotlight--Mr. Brown
I would like to wish all of the families at South Lebanon a safe and happy holiday season. With just a few short weeks until the winter break, we want to emphasize that our expectations remain that students will strive for success, own their actions, accept differences, and respect people and property (SOAR). These core expectations have made a positive impact on all of our students and are continually reinforced through the SOAR program and through our SOAR group meetings. Recently we held our second SOAR day of the year where our students met with their SOAR groups and focused on setting goals and building community. We will continue to hold these lessons each month and will have one more coming up before the winter break.
As the weather turns cold, I would like to remind families that we will continue to take students outside for recess as much as possible. Please send your students to school daily with coats, gloves, and hats so that they can spend time outdoors for recess. As we close 2023, we want to thank all of our families for their support and partnership in educating our students. We are looking forward to the start of the new year in 2024 and seeing our students continue to grow!
Sincerely,
Mr. Brown

As we approach the holiday season, the South Lebanon PTP would like to thank South Lebanon families for their support. Whether it ‘s volunteering your time or making donations, your support is greatly appreciated by the students and staff. It’s because of all of you that the PTP can provide so many opportunities for our students.
Thanks to those who made or purchased the items for the staff’s conference meal.
There will be no PTP meeting in December. The next meeting will be Wednesday, January 10th in the library. Childcare will be provided by our high school volunteers.

News From the Nurse--Mrs. Kline
State mandated dental and physical exams are due. If you have not turned your child’s dental or physical forms in to the nurse's office please send them in ASAP. (Notification has been sent home with every student that is in need of either a dental or physical exam).
School physical and school dental dates will be determined at a later time. At that time, notification will be sent to the parent of the student in need of a dental and physical requirement with the specific exam details.
Please continue to be healthy.
Your parent support is appreciated!
Physical Education News from Mrs. Houtz

Counselor's Corner--Mr. Leal
Happy Holidays South Lebanon Families! I hope you all had a joyous Thanksgiving event! We have about three weeks before our next break and I would like to start our group meetings, which include Emotional Regulation, Social Skills, and Social Skills for our Latino/Latina students. Each group will meet for about 4-6 weeks. Some of the discussion will include effective communication, relationships, conflict resolution, and expected behaviors. Permission slips were sent out and most of them have been returned. We will have an open group meeting, should any other students want to join in later.
Looking forward, in January, we scheduled two exciting events. Our first will be a visit to the Career Technical Center (CTC). We also have a career day for our 3rd graders. We scheduled four presenters to speak to our 3rd grade students. Both events are scheduled for mid-January. We look forward to serving our students and community in 2024!
