A lot of restaurants serve large portions of food. Take charge of the amount of food you eat while dinning out, order smaller meals if possible or ask for a "to-go" box after you eat, for your left overs, if the meal was large.

You should keep excess food out of reach to avoid extra eating. You should serve food food on individual plates, instead of setting it all out on the table.

Portion control in front of the TV.

If eating in front of a TV you should put what you're eating in a bowl, because over eating would be very easy if you don't.
