PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

GRADES 3-5

In an effort to continue to keep our morning announcements as similar as possible to how we would conduct them if we were all in school, I am calling all students in grades 3-5 to lead our school in the flag salute. If your child is interested in leading the flag salute for our school, please send a recording of them reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in the same fashion as the students have done so far. Your 3-5 grader can do the pledge alone, with a family member, or even with a friend. Please send the video to me via email.

Typical Script: "Hi, My name is__________________from homeroom. Please stand for the flag salute.

(I always whisper count 1-2-3 with the kids because I remind them that we have to wait for everyone to stand up.)

DIWALI

Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row(avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians.
