THIS WEEK AT SPES
Your Weekly Parent Bulletin
THE SPES FUND: A CHANCE TO SHOW YOUR BELIEF IN THE EDUCATION YOUR CHILDREN RECEIVE
In two weeks we kick off THE SPES FUND, our annual giving campaign and sole fundraiser for the fall semester where parents, grandparents, alumni, business partners and benefactors have the opportunity to invest in the education we offer SPES students. Each year we conduct THE SPES FUND aimed at the sole purpose of spanning the approximate $700 "gap" between what you pay in tuition for one child and what it actually costs to educate your child. The success of THE SPES FUND is imperative if we are to keep tuition at an affordable level for our families without major increases in years to come. Please give prayerful consideration between now and mid-November to the question "DO YOU BELIEVE" in the education your child(ren) is receiving at SPES. If your answer is "YES," please consider making a contribution to THE SPES FUND and remember, the size of the gift does not matter ... if we all give from the heart showing our belief in our school, THE SPES FUND will be a success!
MONDAY IS LEF TEACHER AWARD NOMINATION DEADLINE DAY!
If you haven't yet submitted your nomination for the 2017 LEF TEACHER AWARDS, today is the last day nominations will be accepted. Please consider nominating a teacher, guidance counselor or librarian who has made a difference in your child's life. Click on the hyperlink below to access the nomination form and remember, your story of how your nominee has touched your child's life is the most important part of your nomination!
Would Your Child Like To Serve Our Church As An Altar Server
Any parishioner who is at least in the 6th grade, is 12 years old, and would like to serve St. Pius as an altar server should call the Parish Office (337) 232-4656 to register. Training for new altar servers will be held Wednesday, December 7th and Thursday, December 8th at 5:30 pm in church. Training attendance is mandatory for both days. This is a perfect opportunity for our children to learn about how they can answer the call to serve at an early age and be an active part of the St. Pius X Catholic Church community!
SPES OPEN HOUSE THIS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd
Spread the word to friends and family members who are interested in learning more about the education we offer at St. Pius Elementary School! Our annual OPEN HOUSE will be held this Thursday, November 3rd with tours beginning at 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Guests should enter through the breezeway doors where they will be welcomed and directed to the registration table in the Commons Area.
REMEMBER: AFTER CARE WILL CLOSE AT 4 p.m. ON THURSDAY. All after care students MUST be picked up no later than 4 p.m.

TIME FOR THE QUARTERLY LOST AND FOUND DONATION
If your child has lost an article of clothing, water bottle, book or any item that you are aware of, please stop by the front office THIS WEEK and ask Ms. Susan if you can go through the Lost and Found Bin. After this week, all remaining items will be donated to a mission in Haiti.
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL ARTICLES OF CLOTHING ARE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME! ALSO - PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD'S OUTER WEAR TO MAKE SURE THAT HIS/HER NAME APPEARS IN IT AND NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S. We have had a number of parents reporting lost, LABELED articles of clothing. Please make sure the jackets and sweatshirts your child has belong to him/her.

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING YOUR FAMILY REN WEB ACCOUNT
It is of utmost importance that the information we have in your RenWeb family account is kept up-to-date. If you have a change in address, phone numbers, emails, employer, emergency contacts, etc. it is imperative that we have that information on file in case of an emergency with your child(ren). When time is of the essence, it is a horrible feeling for us to call places of business who have no idea where you are currently employed and when we send out information to grandparents, it breaks our heart to get calls saying that the person to whom we sent the mailing to is deceased. You can make changes very easily in your RenWeb account ... view the two minute parent tutorial at http://www.stpiuselementary.org/about-us/parent-tutorials.cfm if you need step-by-step instructions.
NOTE IN CASE OF SEPARATION OR DIVORCE: It is imperative that notification be provided to Administrative Assistant, Marlene Patin, so that separate RenWeb accounts can be established for each parent with individual addresses and contact information. We must also upload the custody agreement and insert alerts if needed. Without this information, the school cannot enforce any custodial arrangements and we will have to assume that all information listed in RenWeb is correct.

ONE MORE WEEK TO GET YOUR WRISTBANDS AT $15 EACH
With only two weeks before SPES FAMILY DAY, we are finalizing our plans for the day. Since SPES FAMILY DAY is not a fundraiser, we use the number of advance sale wristbands plus a small additional percentage to determine the number of fun jumps and games and amount of food we order! Please note that this year's FAMILY DAY is one that requires a wristband to participate in any of the events and activities, including but not limited to the fun jumps. Tickets for individual activities and fun jumps will be be sold. A $15 wrist band entitles the wearer to participate in all Wacky Olympic games, jump on all fun jumps as much as he/she desires, play in the Kid Zone, participate three times in the Cake Walk, get his/her face painted, complete a take-home art project AND get a TWINS Burger bagged lunch with chips and cold drink. The only cash sales available on the day of the event will be for concessions and additional chances at the cake walk. Another determining factor in the number of activities we will offer is having enough volunteers for ever facet of the day. Thank you to all who have signed up for one or more volunteer hours to date. We are still in need of more volunteers so please sign-up now so that we do not have to eliminate any fun jumps or activities...https://www.timetosignup.com/spes2014/view/64687

LAST BUT NOT LEAST....YOUR LEADER IN ME MOMENT FOR THIS WEEK
Our students continue to amaze us as they step up and display their leadership skills in so many ways. This past week, our Video Production Class worked tirelessly to write, produce and star in a special "RED RIBBON WEEK" video which "WOW'd" us! Please make time to watch the video and see how our students are communicating how important it is to "STAND UP, STAND STRONG AND STAND TOGETHER."
