Students Demonstrate Generosity During Food Drive Mears is extremely proud to have participated in a month-long drive to support the Food Bank of Alaska. Organized as a fun competition between Mears Collaborative Teams, Mears students and families have donated a total of 831 lbs. of food, along with an additional $450. This level of generosity says a great deal about the Mears community and its commitment to helping others. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Ava Goodman, who has done incredible work promoting and organizing the drive. And a big congratulations to Team Raven, the winner of the competition, who donated 299 lbs. of food. Go Team Raven! Go Panthers! | Building Partnerships During Conference Days Over the last two days, Oct. 26-27, Mears teachers have hosted hundreds of individual meetings with students and their families. The meetings are designed to give students the lead in sharing with their parents their accomplishments and progress over the first quarter of school. Teachers are also given the opportunity to share with students and their parents areas of strength, along with important goals for remainder of the semester. The Mears clinic was able to provide 112 individuals with their seasonal flu shot. ASD administered 855 shots districtwide.
