Science Olympiad Moving On
The SHS Science Olympiad team won first place in Write It Do It and third place in Wright Stuff and Forensics events on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Purdue University regional. The team will advance to the next round of competition on March 5 in Lafayette.
Science Olympiad is a hands-on science competition for high school students, involving more than 30 events to cover all science disciplines. Events include contests, such as, electric car, where students must design, build and test a vehicle that uses an electric motor for propulsion, to protein modeling, where students will use computer visualization and online resources to guide the construction of physical models of proteins and to understand how protein structure determines function.
Last year, the SHS Science Olympiad qualified for the state competition at Indiana University Bloomington.

The SHS Welding program is housed at Mid-America Science Park where students earn dual college credits and industry-recognized certifications in Welding. Mullins' students are currently working on their resumes and searching for prospective career opportunities they hope to begin subsequent to May graduation.
