A New Group at CHOICES For Those
Who Care for Individuals on the Transgender Journey
JOIN US FOR:
An educational and therapeutic circle of adults (ages 18 and older) who are navigating the transitional relationship with a loved one on the TRANSGENDER journey
Monday EVENINGS, 6:30-8:00pm
For six weeks beginning April 10 through May 15, 2017 at CHOICES, 2214 N. Atherton Street, State College. The dates are: 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15.
WHO Might Attend?
Are you the parents, adult siblings, partner or friends of someone on the transgender journey? Are you trying to understand your own feelings and thoughts about your loved one on the transgender journey? Are you working through long held beliefs or assumptions about gender identity? Do you hope for a relationship free of barriers with your loved one? Then come, join our circle and explore together.
COST?
Group therapy is covered by most health insurances. For those without insurance, or who wish to pay out of pocket, or when insurance doesn’t cover group, the cost is $45 per person/per session for the therapeutic hour.

GROUP OBJECTIVES
The first half hour of each session will be educational and include guest speakers, videos, and presentations. The second hour will include exploration about your own emotional, cognitive patterns as well as your behavioral responses.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
2. Learn about the medical process from hormones to surgical options
3. Gain an understanding of potential issues/legalities involved during and after transition
4. Learn about resources available: books, organizations, websites,
conferences, etc.
5. Learn how to communicate with your loved one in ways that are helpful and supportive
THERAPEUTIC OBJECTIVES
1. Explore your individual grief process and potential barriers to acceptance
2. Recognize, identify, and appropriately express your feelings and concerns in regard to their relationship with their loved one
3. Explore your internal parts/beliefs that arise when focusing on their loved one in the transgender journey.
