End of 1st Quarter....November 3rd!!

Parentvue/Studentvue

This is a way for both of you to keep an eye on assignments, scores, and other things happening in class. For many parents and students, maneuvering through student vue/parent vue takes practice. I am happy to talk it through with you on the phone, or show you in person how to access it. If you have any questions at all, please email or call me and I can help!

Fun'd Run.....October 21

Fun'd Run will take place during the student's PE class, Don't worry if you don't have PE, because it then will take place during your ELA class. If you don't have any of these classes, then it will be during one of your electives. Please call the main office for any questions. The money earned will go towards supporting classrooms, student activities, and technology. The nice thing about this fundraiser is that the money raised support current Evergreen students only!! Pledge sheets will be going home soon, and students can run or walk during this event! If any parents would like to join us that day, you are welcome to!

Absent

This is an example of what my board looks like in my room. when students are absent, they can get copies of each of the INB pages, pick up papers we handed back, and check the planner calendar for what they missed. In addition, my student aides will make sure they have made a one-one contact with each student who was absent to help them get what they need. My website is also a great resource, but if you can't always get to it, just tell me you need to meet with me and we can find a time!

Announcements

Last week In Science, we continued working with the Scientific Method. We worked with independent variables, dependent variables, controlled variables(constants), the control, and the scientific question. Pages 16-21 in the INB shows all of the work and notes we did in class to reinforce these concepts. Students practiced doing a mini-experiment with materials provided at their tables. I encourage them to pland and carry out experiments at home (with your permission and safety goggles on, of course! )

This week we will be looking at the Background/Research, and the Hypothesis sections of the Scientific Method. . On Friday I'm giving a summative quiz over independent variables, dependent variables, controlled variables (constants), the control, the scientific question, and the hypothesis. Remember this score is 80% of the their grade so a couple nights of quizzing, reviewing videos, looking at the INB pages 16-21, and looking back over handouts wouldn't be a bad idea.

Student of the Week...... Alejandra N.

Alejandra is 100% on task 100% of the time!!! Not only that, but she is helpful before, during, and right after class with keeping things organized and just keeping an eye out for what needs to be done. She always brings a bright and positive attitude to the classroom every day. Thank you, Alejandra!

Team up with your son/daughter this week!

Search together for an example of a current event/experiment. Work together to define the independent variables, dependent variables, controls, and constants. This will be great, relevant practice for the quiz on Friday!
