Broken Arrow, OK Week 2 Recap
Classical Chats
"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of Kings is to search out a matter." Proverbs 25:2 KJV
"In every subject God has hidden His truth and beauty. It is our pleasure as students and teachers to discover Him as we learn. Our studies should also prepare us to reason clearly, speak eloquently, and write convincingly so that we have the ability to make God know to others." Classical Conversations 2011 Catalog
Have you made knowing God and making Him known the mission of your homeschooling journey? Are you excited about the opportunity to work with your children and together search for God's hidden truth and beauty in every subject? Do you approach learning new things with joy because you will become better equipped to make Him known? How are you modeling this for your children and encouraging other families to do the same?
This week at home for Foundations you should be reviewing week 2 and week 1 "New Grammar" with your children. Remember to keep it simple! For Essentials assignments. please see Mrs Tener's email.
For Week 3
For Week 3:
Family Presentations - The Kim Lee Family
Playground Duty - Jordon King/Katie Schauff
(If you are going to be out when you have playground duty, please have someone cover for you and then let the director know who it is).
Suggested Oral Presentations: (remember you can always choose what you want your child to present, this is just a suggestion)
ABC/Apprentices: Share your favorite bible story or recite a Bible verse.
Journeymen/Masters: Share your favorite Bible story and tell why it is meaningful to you. You could also recite a scripture or a passage:
Skill to practice: Confidence - Trust and rely on God to boldly share your message.
If you are going to be out for a day please ask another family to cover for you for cleanup and or playground rotation. Our clean up schedule with details will be posted by my white board for the first few weeks. At the end of the day the families of Essentials and Challenge should work together to clean up the Challenge and Essentials classrooms as well as making sure the bathrooms are cleaned. The hallway with Classroom #2 and Challenge room also needs to be vacuumed.

The Core Book Club
Biome Showcase
On Week 5 (September 21st), The kids can bring in a representation of any biome from week 1's grammar. This could be a diorama, or a model. It needs to include which biome it represents, plus an example of a carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore, and a producer, consumer, and decomposer which is native to it's environment. These all need to be labeled. These are the only guidelines. Your kids can be as creative as they want. This is not a contest per say but more of a showcase where the kids can do something fun. While showing off their work and seeing their peers work also. We can have a table that showcases these. I might have a small reward for those that participate. I haven't decided that yet.
The Timothy Award
The child will be recognized at End of the Year Ceremony with a certificate. While not everyone can obtain Memory Master, nor may desire to do so, we can all strive to memorize the word of God and hide it in our heart. The child will recite the scripture to parents week 23 and to the director on week 24.
