Hello From SWS! | January 9th, 2023
Hello, SWS Community!
.It was wonderful having students return from the winter holiday!
Please read below for information on attendance, school transportation, and student immunization requirements.
ATTENDANCE:
We miss students when they are gone, and we value their contributions to their school and would like you to help ensure that your student attends regularly and is successful in school.
If your student is going to be absent, please contact school staff in advance. If an absence was unplanned, please contact the school within two school days of your student's return.

Reminder: For ALL Students Arriving Late or Leaving Early
If your student is late to or leaving early from school, they must sign in/out at the main office. Students under 18 years old must have permission from their parents or guardians to leave school early.
SCHOOL BUS UPDATES:
Last week, we learned that many of our students' bus routes were changed to yellow school buses with new route numbers. We apologize for the confusion and delays. We hope the following resources can help. Contact Mr. Diaz Rios if you have any questions or need assistance.
Transportation Department: (206) 252-0900
SPS's Transportation department is available by phone from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM to answer questions or help you. Please be ready to provide your student's identification number when calling.
ZUM Phone APP:
Our transportation provider, Zum, has an app that provides information on your student's upcoming rides, real-time ride updates, and the ability to report and resolve issues.
For iPhones: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/zum/id1076430968
For Androids: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ridezum.zum
Late Bus Website:
For information on late yellow school buses, go to: https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/transportation/latebus/
This website reports on buses running late. Automated calls are sent to families for buses running at least 15 minutes late.
STUDENT IMMUNIZATIONS
Washington state law requires that students receive appropriate vaccinations for school entry by February 9th, 2023. After that date, school administrators are required to send students home until the student immunization requirements are completed. Washington State Law allows exemptions to the immunization requirements for religious, medical, or personal reasons.
For more information on immunizations, contact Nurse Andrea Kurtzman or go SPS Health Services website: https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/health-services/
Important Reminders
January 1/16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No School)
Winter Weather Info:
With the recent ice and snow, it is a good idea to take some time to review the information on Winter Weather (click here) to find out if the school will have schedule changes due to weather.
If changes to school schedules happen, families will be notified at approximately 5 a.m. on the morning of a weather event through phone voice messages, emails, and text messages. Updates will also be shared with local media stations, on social media, and on the district and school websites.
