From the Nurses Office
Note from the Nurses:
There has been an increase of RSV in the community. According to the CDC, respiratory syncytial (sin-SISH-uhl) virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States.People infected with RSV usually show symptoms within 4 to 6 days after getting infected. Symptoms of RSV infection usually include
Runny nose Decrease in appetite Coughing Sneezing Fever Wheezing These symptoms usually appear in stages and not all at once. In very young infants with RSV, the only symptoms may be irritability, decreased activity, and breathing difficulties. According to CUSD 303 absence guidelines, students must be 24 hours fever free prior to returning back to school. A fever is a temperature of 100. Students with a persistent, productive cough must remain home as well. Masking remains optional for all students. There are steps you can take to help prevent the spread of RSV. Specifically, if you have cold-like symptoms you should Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper shirt sleeve, not your hands Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds Avoid close contact, such as kissing, shaking hands, and sharing cups and eating utensils, with others Clean frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs and mobile devices
Toilet Paper and Paper Towel Tubes Needed
Additional Reminders from the School Office
Notification of Changes in afternoon transportation:
For parents who need to change transportation for the end of the day, please call well before dismissal as it gets very busy and challenging to make sure last minute changes are communicated to bus drivers and staff when its close to 3:00. This is especially important for kids who stay after for Student Council and CrossRoads activities.
TARDIES:
As mentioned in last week's newsletter; due to the number of tardies we are having most mornings at Anderson, we want to remind our Anderson families how important it is to have the students at school on time and ready for learning. Students lose valuable instruction time at the very beginning of the day and it can be disruptive to have so many students arriving late. Thank you so much for your help in getting the students to school in the mornings on time. For those students with chronic truancy, a truant officer will be following up with families who have students with a lot of truancy.
CALLING IN STUDENTS WHO WILL NOT BE ATTENDING (OR LATE):
And one last reminder - Please make sure you call our attendance phone line at (331) 228-3300 if your child will be absent or late. All absences and reasons for absence are needed to be recorded, and your help in getting us this information is appreciated.Final Reminder!
Anderson will be observing Veterans Day on Friday, November 11th. We invite our veterans to come to Anderson at 8:30 am to enjoy a school assembly and a small reception afterward with their families. We need your help! We would love to invite as many veterans as we can. Please complete this FORM if you have a veteran family member who can attend. We look forward to honoring their service.
Please fill out one form for each veteran attending. You can also call the main office at (331) 228-3300 to RSVP.
We know that not all the veterans in your family are able to attend our assembly. We would still like to give your child an opportunity to share about and honor the veterans they know. Please click HERE, print, and fill out the "Anderson Veteran of Honor" sheet. We will be proudly displaying these in our hallway and showcasing them at our assembly.
(Don't have a printer... no worries... we will be sending home copies with each student)
