KPREP Testing for all 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade students this week!
This week (May 7th-may 11th) is the week that Southside students take the KPREP Test! This is a very important week for not only your student but also our school community as a whole. Below you will find a few tips that we would like to share with you that can support your students and set them up for a successful testing experience that allows their best performance to show.
You can help your child do his/her best during KPREP with the following supports:
1. Make sure your child attends school and arrives on time each day.
2. Avoid dental, doctor or other appointments that could keep you child from being at school and possibly missing a test. Instead, request that appointments be made after school if at all possible.
3. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep each night of testing.
4. Make sure that your student eats breakfast each morning either at home or at school.
5. Let your child know you have confidence in his/her ability to perform well. Try to relieve any test anxiety or worry by expressing your confidence in their ability.
6. Advise your child to take the tests seriously and to simply do the best they can by putting forth their best effort.
Thank you in advance for your support for KPREP Testing Week!

End of School Field Trips, Classroom Fun and Approved Volunteers
We are in our last few months of school and several classrooms will be taking field trips and having classroom activities. This is a reminder that all adults that want to participate in these fun activities are required to be an Approved Shelby County School volunteer. If you need an application please let your teacher know so that there is plenty of time to get you approved. Forms filled out less than 48 hours prior to a school field trip or activity may not be approved in time. If you have questions about the approval process you can contact Beth Cathcart, Southside FRC at: beth.cathcart@shelby.kyschools.us or you can call 502-633-4460.
