Shamrock Gardens Dragon Direct
Think Different. Do Different. Be Different.
Week of February 8th-February 12th
Greetings Gardeners,
I hope each of you had a wonderful and uplifting week with your scholars. It was so wonderful seeing so many scholars standing up on the stage receiving awards for all of their accomplishments for the 2nd quarter. Each of us know that they would not see such success without the amazing cheerleaders they have in their classroom each and every day. Thank you for the selfless work.
We hope you enjoy Super Bowl Sunday and everyone look for Cassady in the crowd representing SGE.
Keep Pounding and see you in the classrooms!

What's New
What's going on in fifth grade?
You may have noticed that the list of 5th grade students in the ISS room with Mr. Cherry has gotten longer recently. This is because 5th grade is implementing a new behavior plan to support all 5th grade scholars academically and behaviorally. Students are given three warnings/reminders to correct misbehavior and follow the Shamrock Way in the classroom. After three warnings, scholars take all of their academic materials to the ISS room with Mr. Cherry. Once in the ISS room, they follow the same schedule and complete the same work they would complete in class. For example, instead of receiving the math mini lesson with the rest of the class, they watch an Educreations video of the math lesson, then complete their independent practice. Ms. Futrell comes in to ISS to support these scholars academically throughout the day. Like all students in ISS, these students have silent lunch and walk laps during recess. However, unlike the students in ISS, they have the opportunity to earn their way back to class through good behavior in ISS. They also continue to attend small groups (such as LLI, guided reading, and Do the Math groups). We have been implementing this new plan for about three weeks, and have been very impressed with the improvement in student behavior and attitude, and are already seeing a positive impact academically as well. Please reach out to Ms. Polsgrove with any questions!
