From the Principal’s Desk
Ahi ahi marie,
Whilst the weather is not playing its part at the moment, let's take heart from the fact that September 1st is fast approaching, along with Daylight Savings coming towards the end of September. This will give everyone a much needed boost.
The Winter Olympics team is just over a week out from its ‘Town and Country Sports Camp’ and are putting their final preparations together. I know they are extremely excited about this adventure, especially the Year 8’s who didn’t get a chance to take part last year due to Covid. There will be more to come on this in next week's newsletter.
Week 5 will see some of our Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 boys take part in the Thames Valley Tackle Rugby Tournament in Thames next Wednesday. Additionally, a selection of students 8 to 13 years old will be involved in the Te Aroha Schools Districts Cross Country held at Manawaru School. We wish all of our competitors the best of luck with their respective events. Kia Kaha!
I feel it’s important to discuss the purpose of the Te Aroha Kahui Ako Teacher Only Day on Friday September 9th. This is a professional development day for our Te Aroha teachers to upskill in their understanding and knowledge around the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum. ANZHC is to be implemented by all schools for the start of 2023. The majority of Te Aroha schools will be taking part in this day.
Whaowhia te kete mātauranga Fill the basket of knowledge.

Frazzled Kiwi soaked in Adventure Race
Frazzled Kiwi is a fun team adventure race for families, students, social adults and corporate groups. It is a chance to make great memories with teams of 2 – 5 fun people as you use a course map and clue sheet to find checkpoints and complete fun mystery activities. Frazzled Kiwi is a run/trek only adventure race.
Adventure racing is a team sport – Teams must stick together and complete the race as a team. The team who gets the most points in the fastest time wins.
Blake, Xavier and Connor finished 2nd, which is an amazing achievement as this is their first adventure race. They are already planning how they can take out the win next year!!!!
Well done Boys!
Dont forget your Yummy Apple Stickers and Bags!!!
This year is the 25th anniversary for the Yummy Apple Sticker Promotion. For the next two terms Stanley Ave will be taking part in this promotion to try and earn some amazing sports equipment!
All you need to do is purchase any of the Yummy apple varieties and bring the stickers to school! Alternatively, if you purchase a bag of these apples, send the cut out from the bag to school.
Every point counts!
1 sticker = 1 point
1 cut out = 10 points
