Principal Update
Dear Team Sheiko,
Today marks my last day as Principal of Sheiko. As you know, I will be starting a new position outside of education next week. I want to thank all of your for your support and kindness throughout the last year and a half. I have loved getting to know your children and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to form relationships with them and see them grow each and every day. I will miss the students, staff and community dearly.
Mrs. Sheiko will serve as Principal for the remainder of the school year. We spent a few days transitioning this week and she is looking forward to being back in her home school (and the school that is named after her!). She is a legend- you are in the best hands! I'm grateful to Mrs. Sheiko for stepping in and providing the support and care that our students need in the months ahead.
The Principal position will be posted in the spring. The District will communicate with you regarding the interview process in the coming months.
Thank you again for everything! I wish you all the best in the years to come and hope you have a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year!

Student Procedures/Expectations Reminders
Procedures and expectations will remain the same for all students. Mrs. Sheiko will meet with all students this coming week to review building expectations. Below are the expectations that were communicated to all families in the beginning of the school year:
- Shoes: To prevent any potential injuries, please send your student to school with closed-toe shoes ONLY. Sandals, slides and flip flops are not permitted.
- Dress Code: Students should dress appropriately for school. Please do not send your child to school in any of the following: bare-midress tops, shorts that are shorter than fingertip length, spaghetti strap tank tops, clothes with adult references on them.
- Hats/Hoods: Students are NOT permitted to wear hats and hoods as this is a safety concern. We must be able to see student's faces at all times.
- Games/Items from Home: Please do not send your child to school with any toys from home, including playing cards/pokemon cards, stuffed animals, board games, etc. We will have special spirit days where students can bring these items in! We also have plenty of equipment for indoor/outdoor recess for students to play with.
- Nut Policy: While we are not a nut-free school, we highly encourage nut-free products for snack and lunch. We have a nut-free table in the lunchroom for students that have a nut allergy. If you have a student that has to sit at the nut-free table, they may choose a friend to sit with them as long as that friend does not have any nut products in their lunch. All classrooms that have a student with a nut allergy will have a 'Nut-Free Zone' sign outside of their door. Again, please do your best to send your student school with nut-free products.
- Gum/Candy/Pop: These items are not permitted at school (with the exception of candy being provided by a staff member as a reward). Please do not pack these items in your child's lunch.
- Cell Phones: As a friendly reminder, CELL PHONES ARE NOT PERMITTED DURING SCHOOL HOURS (THIS INCLUDES THE MOMENT A STUDENT IS DROPPED OFF UNTIL THEY ARE IN THE CAR WITH YOU OR UNTIL THEY ARRIVE AT THE BUS STOP) They must be silenced/turned off in your student's backpack & kept in their locker. If a cell phone is visible during the school day: 1st offense: teacher will take the phone until the end of the day, 2nd offense: phone turned into the office and parent must come pick up the phone at the end of the day.
- Reusable Water Bottle: Please send your student to school with a reusable water bottle, preferably one with a sport top to mitigate spills. We have water bottle refilling stations that students are welcome to use.
- Clothes/shoes for PE: Please make sure that your student is wearing appropriate attire on days that they have PE. Students could leave PE shoes in their locker so that they always have them on hand. If you are unsure of your child's schedule, please contact your child's teacher.
- Outdoor recess/extra clothes: Thank you for sending your student to school with appropriate clothing for outdoor recess, which includes coats, gloves, hat and mittens/gloves. It is also helpful if your student keeps an extra change of clothes in their locker in case they need them.
- Wiping hands before specials: We have students in the building with very severe allergies. As part of the action plan, all students will wipe their hands with a huggies sensitive, fragrance-free wipe before entering specials class. If you prefer that your child does not use the wipes each day, please contact your child's teacher and they can wash their hands instead. Thank you for helping us keep all students at Sheiko safe!
- Teacher/Building Procedures: We appreciate your support of the procedures and policies that are established by your child's teacher, as well as our building policies. Thank you for your help in encouraging your student to be respectful of their peers and all Sheiko staff members. If you have any questions about specific classroom procedures, please email your child's teacher.
