First Quarter Student Recognition
Recognition presentations will be emailed home to grade level families following the November 12 Advisory time. In addition, recognition certificates will be mailed home some time in next two weeks. We will continue our Jackson tradition of giving pins to our recognition recipients. Recognition pins will be distributed to students once we return to in-person learning (we will communicate pickup plans for students who remain in remote learning at that time).
ILMEA Junior Honor Band Festival
Last month five brave Jackson band students (Evan L., Ryan G., Matt F., Isabel B., and Malachy H.) submitted recorded audition material for participation in the prestigious ILMEA Jr. Honor Band Festival. Three of those students were chosen to represent Jackson at the virtual festival on November 14. Congratulations to Isabel B., Matt F., and Evan L. We are so proud of all these wonderful young musicians.
Exciting Update to Share from Our Jackson PE Department
Thank you for a very successful first quarter. During this time, the Physical Education program required students to participate in project-based learning involving the five fitness components of fitness (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and nutrition). This allowed students to understand the importance of being lifelong physically active and healthy learners.
As second quarter approaches, the design and layout of Jackson PE will be changing slightly based on student feedback and educator collaboration. There will be an emphasis on physical activity within synchronous and asynchronous time, along with mini-lessons. The purpose of this transition is to provide students a chance to experience different activity levels of their choice, while building upon the healthy fitness components they have learned during first quarter. We are excited for this new adventure and look forward to further parent/student involvement and feedback throughout the next few weeks and months to come.
Sincerely,
Jackson Physical Education Department
