Principal Internship Practicum
From December 14, 2020 to January 28, 2021, Ms. Lisa Shorts will begin her Principal Internship Practicum at Argyle Middle School. Over the last few months, we have been working side by side co-leading activities and ensuring that our students receive a quality education every day. On the 14th, you will begin to see Argyle weekly messages and principal emails from Ms. Shorts. In order to make this experience more authentic and beneficial, Mr. Allrich ask that parents, students and staff direct all school-related communications to Ms. Shorts during that time.
In this virtual school setting, Mr. Allrich will be preparing and planning for our student’s potential return to the school building. During the intern practicum, Mr. Allrich will also support the principal intern not only during times of reflection, but also when the principal intern may need a sounding board to address a specific situation in the school. As a principal developer, Mr. Allrich is committed to ensuring Ms. Lisa Shorts an opportunity to develop into a highly effective school leader.

CORONAVIRUS KITS FOR FAMILIES IN HARDEST HIT COMMUNITIES:
Nearly 4,000 COVID-19 kits, packed with personal protective equipment (PPE) to try to prevent the spread of coronavirus, will be passed out in some sections of Montgomery County hardest hit by the virus. The affected zip codes are 20902, 20904 and 20906. Public Health staff packed the PPE kits, which contain hand sanitizer, alcohol wipes, gloves, tissues, masks, non-contact infrared thermometers, and batteries.
The kits will be shared at the following food distribution sites:
- Hughes United Methodist (10700 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton), Tuesday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Oak Chapel United Methodist Church (14500 Layhill Rd. in Silver Spring), Thursday, Dec. 10, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- East County HUB at East County Community Recreation Center (3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring), Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
These kit distribution events follow a similar one in Wheaton in November in which an additional 1,000 kits were passed out at testing sites in Wheaton. The items were paid for through funding Montgomery County Government secured through the Office of Minority Health at the Maryland Department of Health.
For the latest COVID-19 updates, visit the County’s COVID-19 website as well as the County’s data dashboard or follow Montgomery County on Facebook @MontgomeryCountyInfo and Twitter @MontgomeryCountyMD.
