HES" Got Talent
Learning Goal:
What are we going to learn?
- Learn to read and perform rhythm patterns.
- Learn African Dance movements
Success Criteria
How will we know we learned it? We will be able to:
- Perform rhythm patterns for African Body Percussion game
- Perform African Dance movements.
Hopkins Elementary students will demonstrate the HES Learning Dispositions by working performance skills which include dance movement, singing and instrumental performance. The African Dance routine and African Body Percussion –Play in this week’s music assignments will show each student’s engagement, critical thinking, collaboration, and determination in video clips that will be presented in our first HES Talent Show.
1. Watch, study and practice each performance assignment.
2. Video your best performance assignment on your class performance Padlet page.
3. Raw footage is best...no edited videos, no titles, or no intros - we will be editing them into the final show.
4. Title your video file with the Student's First Name, Last Name and include it as your subject on your class performance Padlet page.
5. Make sure your lighting and audio is bright and clear - voice should be louder than music

What are we going to learn?
- This week's element of music we will focus on tempo.
- Tempo is the speed at which music is played. The use of different tempos produces different feelings in music
Success Criteria
How will we know we learned it? We will be able to:
- Define and recognize tempo.
- Identify and and describe the tempo in a piece of music.
- Explain how tempo is used to communicate different feelings in music.
