Google Apps for Education
Say Goodbye to Your Flash Drive
September 22, 2014
Today is a monumental day at Ashland High School as we have joined the ranks of other schools using Google Apps For Education (GAFE). Through Ashland's participation, you each now have your own Google account through the school. This gives you access to Google Drive and other cloud tools to help you work on assignments and collaborate with your teachers and each other. One of the best features of Google Drive is that it allows you to upload documents to the cloud and work on them there, rather than having to worry about bringing flash drives with you anymore.
Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Although you each have your own account, you are still bound by the school acceptable use policy, and your Google Account could vanish as quickly as it has appeared if you choose to use it inappropriately.
If you would like to get started with Google today, you'll need to change your password. Hit the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys to bring up the change password screen. Your new password needs to contain a capital letter, a number, and a symbol.
Once your password is changed, head to www.google.com and in the upper right hand corner click the sign in button. (See below) Your username is your current username + @goarrows.org. So for example, you might sign in as 15jsmith@goarrows.org and then use your new password.
That's all there is to it. Enjoy your awesome new cloud tools. Also, if you happen to see our IT Director Mr. McNaull in the hallway, make sure you tell him thanks for setting it up.
