A Statement by the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees
A Message from Dr. Lambert
I thank the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees and Dr. Null for this statement. I pledge to continue in humble dialogue with the Bush Elementary School community as we work to ensure our words and deeds demonstrate that All truly means All.
That message was sufficient for social media Tuesday night, but I would like to share more about how I will work, along with the faculty and staff of Bush Elementary, to listen intently and act with intention. The Board's statement provides the context and guidance for all of us in Conroe ISD moving forward. I personally thank President Williams and the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees for this important statement. If you would like to see Mr. Kidd's presentation on behalf of the Board, the video of the meeting is online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV695czkVfY.
As a staff, we are committed to the idea that no significant learning occurs without a significant relationship. As I began my tenure as principal of Bush Elementary, I focused on the need to develop relationships with all of our students, among staff members, and with our community. This focus, and the work associated with it, continues.
In January, the staff at Bush began an intentional conversation about the realities associated with race and education as part of our ongoing work building and fostering relationships with all of our students. This conversation is part of our continuing discussions, professional learning, and intentional classroom practice.
The Board reminds us that "we have devoted ourselves to public education because we believe in the unlimited potential in every human being, in every student." I can tell you that those words speak clearly to who I am as an educator and a citizen. The education of your children is my calling, and the power of public education is in its capacity to meet the needs of individual children while perpetuating our democracy.
I commit to each of you to continue in humble dialogue, to learn from that dialogue, and to continue to act in the best interests of all of our children. Part of that action is to ensure all of our students see themselves represented in the teachers and staff who serve them each day at Bush Elementary.
You are most welcome to reach out to engage in this discussion. I would be happy to schedule conversations with members of the Bush Elementary community. Please email me at jlambert@conroeisd.net, and we can arrange time(s) to talk. There will be opportunities to participate in dialogue throughout the school year as well.
I am honored to be at your service,
Dr. Jarod Lambert, Principal
Bush Elementary School
Kindergarten Registration
If you have kindergarten age children who will be attending Bush next year, please register them. Kindergarten is always the most difficult grade for which to predict enrollment, and accurate numbers are helpful in the planning process for the coming school year.
To enter the Kindergarten program in Conroe ISD, a child must be five years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. Below is a list of documents that can be provided to establish identity and age for registration:
- birth certificate,
- passport
- school ID card
- military ID
- hospital birth record
- adoption record
- or other legal document that establishes identity
Should you have any questions please contact our Mrs. Hooker at bhooker@conroeisd.net
Please also encourage friends and neighbors with kindergarten age children who do not currently have children at Bush to complete the registration process.
2020-2021 School Year
Many of you have asked questions about the 2020-2021 school year. Conroe ISD continues to plan for the new school year, and has released an Instructional Planning Survey. If you currently have a child in CISD, you should have received the survey. You can also access the 2020-2021 Instructional Planning Survey online: https://www.conroeisd.net/2020-2021-instructional-planning-survey/. The survey closes Monday, June 22. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey if you haven't already.
Guidance from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the 2020-2021 school year is expected next week. This guidance is an important part of our planning process as we must meet the requirements established by TEA. We do expect to be in school beginning August 12, 2020.
