3. Used for domestic heating, electricity, and cooking

4. Oil for transportation such as cars, trains, planes, etc...

5. Power generators

Cons of government involvement

1. Can cause pollution

2. Harmful to the environment if there is an oil spill

3. Can pollute the water system and poison animals

4. Millions of dollars spent to rebuild after a major oil spill

5. Ok spills like the Exxon Valdez

Background information

Oil drilling can create trillions of dollars in government revenue. The oil collected is sold to other countries and is used to power machinery and for transportation. Although in the long run society wouldn't be the way it is without oil, there are many problems that come with the business. For example: Oil can pollute the water and air and the risk of major oils spills such as the Exxon Valdez. There is ups and downs of the business of drilling for oil.
