March and April
What's New with Evergreen PBIS?
As most people will agree, it is terrifying that we are already into April! We are mere weeks away from state SBA testing, a time of year that is stressful for both students and teachers. Despite this challenging time of year, students and staff alike are working harder than ever to prepare to show learning on our required state assessments. It is more important than ever that everyone at Evergreen continues to hold ourselves to high academic and behavioral standards so that our school can be represented in a positive way, reflecting the wonderful work that goes on in all classrooms.
The Evergreen PBIS Team has continued the implementation of an area focus case study throughout the building. This means that we have taken three common areas, the Cafeteria, the Playground, and the Hallways, and have made it our mission to improve the behaviors in those locations. We have seen success in every single area of focus. Way to go Evergreen!
Evergreen was fortunate enough to send four staff members to a regional PBIS conference in Tacoma in mid-February. Mr. Van Cleef, Ms. Tina, Mrs. Crystal, and Mr. Benson made the trip across the state to engage in some professional learning with the goal of bettering the atmosphere of Evergreen. They have since presented their new learning to the rest of the Evergreen staff as well as plans for develop stronger recess practices, engage in continued social-emotional learning, and find new and innovative ways of recognizing strong student performance.

The Trough
Evergreen has also successfully filled the "R" in the trough, meaning that Mr. Danford and Mr. Van Cleef will be sleeping on the roof of Evergreen in the not too distant future! Keep an eye out for more information. There have been rumors of hot chocolate and a bed time story read by our two principals. Let's see what happens!
Remind all kiddos that any tickets they spend in the building end up in The Trough. Tickets don't do any good if they aren't spent!
