Eagle Scout Project
Kenny Brooks' Eagle Scout Project
EHS freshman Kenny Brooks is a Boy Scout who recently completed his Eagle Scout Project at the High School and District building (West Elementary School). The project was a flag retirement box. The community can place flags that are worn out or have holes in the boxes at these locations. Boy Scout Troop 0064 will retire them respectfully and correctly. Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the few organizations that the U.S. government has given permission to retire flags.
Kenney wanted to complete this project because in Eudora we did not have an easy and appropriate process for those who want to dispose of old flags. His other goal was to educate people on how to respectfully get rid of worn-out U.S. flags. In addition, he has had family members serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, for example, his Great Grandfather. This project is a way to honor those family members as well as all military past, present, and future.
Kenney and his family are patriotic and love this country and I believe just doing something small, such as disposing of your worn-out flags correctly, honors our country and helps spread patriotism.

On Tuesday, February 18th we traveled to Louisburg for our second game with them this year. We started out well but had a lull late in the 1st quarter and early in the 2nd quarter. We had to dig deep defensively and played a good defensive game handling their offensive sets. We were down 1 at the half, 19-20, but It could have been a lot worse. In the 2nd half we came out and played some good ball on the offensive side and was able to hold firm the rest of the game defensively. We hit some big free throws late and got some key rebounds. Connor Dunback (9th ) sparked us on the boards with grabbing 8 in 2 quarters. We won 45-42 in a close tough contest. Cody Loganbill (10th) led us with 16 pts 7 rebounds 3 assists followed by Landon Watkins (10th) with 11 pts and he took a charge.
On Friday, February 21st we hosted Spring Hill which was our 2nd game against them this year. We came out a little flat but was then led by Traeger Rader (10th) with some shots hit in the second half of the 1st quarter to get us sparked. We then settled in collectively and played some decent basketball for the majority of the game. We read there offense pretty well by calling out screens and cuts and reacted appropriately a majority of the time. In the 4th quarter, we needed to finish a bit cleaner but all in all a great game by the boys and they got it done. We were led by Traeger Rader in points with 15, Brayden Beerbower (10th ) 10 points and 8 rebounds and Cody Loganbill 10th)12 points and 4 assists.

Micah Barron led the team with 12 points with Kale Hammerschmidt, Conor Dunback, and Jaiden Bender all scored 8 points. Dunback led the team with 10 rebounds and Barron tallied 6 steals.
Then on Friday, the boys hosted Spring Hill. Eudora again got off to a sluggish start and struggled to rebound which led to a 19-19 halftime score. In the third quarter, both teams really battled each other. Eudora took a 34-33 lead going into the fourth quarter. Cardinals really amped up their defense in the fourth quarter. Spring Hill struggled to dribble while Eudora capitalized by making several outstanding plays on the offensive end. Eudora went on a 23 to 7 run to finish the game, winning 54-40. All Night Prom Fundraiser - Win a side of beef!
The EHS Parents All-Night Prom Committee has been busy at work getting ready for this year’s All Night Prom. This year’s All Night Prom will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020. This is the 30th year for the All-Night Prom in Eudora! It is solely run and organized by parent volunteers. After the formal prom, we have a lock-in for all EHS Juniors and Seniors and their dates at Eudora Middle School. We feed them, have inflatables and games, and draw for door prizes all night long. We don’t allow anyone to leave unless we talk to a parent to get permission. Everyone is then dismissed at 6 am with a bag of loot. We’ve managed to keep the students of EHS safe and prevented them from making poor choices by holding this safe parent-sponsored event for 29 consecutive years. Our parent committee fundraises by soliciting cash and in-kind donations from businesses and individuals. We are currently in the process of fundraising for All Night Prom. Each year the All Night Prom Committee raffles off a chance to win a side of beef. Thanks to Neis Brother Farms for donating this year! It is a HUGE donation that we are very grateful for, as it has the potential to raise a lot of money for us. All proceeds raised will help pay for this year’s EHS All Night Prom.
All juniors and seniors were given 10 beef raffle tickets to sell. Tickets prices are 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. The person purchasing the ticket(s) keeps the info part of the ticket. The stub with name/email/phone should be turned in to the EHS Office (Career Center), along with the payment collected, to Theresa Abel. Mrs. Abel is kind enough to be tracking everyone’s sales for us so that we can award prizes to those who sell the most raffle tickets.
Checks can be made out to the EHS Parents Prom Committee or, of course, people can pay cash. If your student sells all 10 of their tickets and needs more, please have them visit Mrs. Abel, and she can give them additional tickets to sell.
All ticket sales are due to Mrs. Abel in the Career Center by the end of the school day on Friday, April 10, 2020. The drawing for the side of beef will be held on Monday, April 13, 2020.
