Test Prep - M-Step - From Mrs. Smiley
Hello Team,
I hope that everyone's break was restful.
I am aware that many of you only got through two days in its entirety. I have attached the next plans. I would advise you to go through them and ensure that you at least tackle the portion regarding the M-Step writing with the sample scored passages and cover the topics for this week for Math and ELA. You might not be able to cover everything or assign all of the work, but do your best to expose the scholars to the concepts and allow them practice. You can actually spend more time on the ELA and save this week's math for the following week as you will start with ELA testing on April 11th. Your mornings will be testing and the afternoons will be teaching.
Let me know if you have any questions or if there are any links that are not functioning. I sent you all of the quizzizz and kahoot links separately, but they are in the plans.

KICKBOARD ! -
Hello Team,
Here is an overview of our Kickboard usage report. We are aware that everyone does not have a full understanding of kickboard and we plan to provide an overview and some directives shortly after returning from your break.
For the time being, get in there and explore and use the best you can. All classes have been updated. If you see that you have missing scholars or scholars who don't belong in your class, please email Mr. Harris @ harrisj@greaterheightsacademy.org.
***The main objective of kickboard is for us adults to be aware of our Positive interactions with scholars. It will help us to be more aware of what we are focusing on, which should be the positive behaviors that we want to see and we know will lead to greater achievement. We want to shoot for 4 positive interactions for every 1 negative interaction. ****

Zoom and Classroom Training
The Training Team has completed Zoom and Google Classroom training for your staff members. Attached to this email are two documents full of links that you can share with leaders and staff members. We have not shared them with leaders / staff members. Both are training game boards where staff members can click on the links that will support their needs. If staff members are familiar with the platforms, they would not need to complete all boxes. If you see the video icon in a square, staff members can click on the icon to view a corresponding video.
In addition to these game boards, the Training Team has created a PLA Learning Institute course titled "Remote Learning 2021-2022" that houses the same resources. You have all been invited to this course and should have received an email. We have NOT invited all staff members to this course because we are unsure of what communication has been shared with staff members about the practice elearning day. We do not want to send an invite to staff members if they have not heard this communication. Instead, we have made this course a self-enroll course. Staff members can click this link to enroll in the course and access the resources: https://phalenacademies.instructure.com/enroll/48CG44. Please this link with staff members and leaders when you feel it is appropriate.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Have a great day!
