ALL STAFF REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BOARD OFFICE:

We have several tasks that require your attention, so please read this email entirely so you are aware of the tasks you need to complete.

First, staff members are required to annually watch training videos. All training videos must be watched and completion forms submitted by October 14, 2016.

These training videos are required by state law and/or district policy, and you must annually provide confirmation that you have completed each of the training modules.

Staff members in certified positions are required to watch five (5) videos:

  • Confidentiality of Student Information
  • Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation
  • Identifying Signs of Sexual Abuse in School Children
  • Standard Precautions for Avoiding Infections
  • Student Discipline

Staff members in non-certified positions are required to watch four (4) videos:

  • Confidentiality of Student Information
  • Discrimination, Harassment & Retaliation
  • Identifying Signs of Sexual Abuse in School Children
  • Standard Precautions for Avoiding Infections

You may watch the videos at your convenience by logging in to your TalentEd Records account. Your user name is your firstname.lastname and your password is what you use to log in to your computer each day. (If you experience trouble logging in to TalentEd Records please contact the Human Resources Department at 659-3013). Once you have signed in, you will see the videos in your "Needs Attention" tasks list. Once you have finished watching all required videos, you will submit the completion form that is also in your "Needs Attention" task list. If you watch the videos with a group, you are still required to complete this form. If you watched the videos on or after July 1, 2016, prior to this email being sent, you are still required to complete this form.

Second, staff members must annually acknowledge agreement to comply with policies. You will also see the 16-17 Annual Policy Acknowledgement form in your "Needs Attention" tasks list. You must review the policies and acknowledge your agreement to comply with them. Submission of this form is also due by October 14, 2016.

Third, if you have been issued a District credit card, handle money for the district or are the sponsor of an activity, you must acknowledge your agreement to comply with the District's Business Procedures Manual. You will only receive this form if you have been identified as meeting one of those three criteria. If you need to complete this form, you will see the Business Procedures Manual Acknowledgement form in your "Needs Attention" tasks list. You must review this document and acknowledge your agreement to comply with the procedures. Submission of this form is also due byOctober 14, 2016.

As a reminder, TalentEd Records functions best in Google Chrome. Your user name is your firstname.lastname and your password is what you use to log in to your computer each day.

If you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources Department at 659-3013.

Collaborative Instructional Review

My professional development this year will focus on the Collaborative Instructional Review (CIR) Process through ICLE. I have had several people from the Instructional Leadership Team volunteer to participate in this process with me. If you are interested in participating also, it is open to everyone. Talk to your team member or me about what it involves. I need a lot of practice, so I would love to have more volunteers. We will be working through the Rigor and Relevance framework using teaching and learning rubrics developed for this coaching model. See me for more details!

Please make plans to attend the Family Information Night on October 6th.

Mr. Linthacum, Dr. Shindorf, and Dr. Logan will share the following presentation during our behavioral meeting on October 6th.
1. Welcome, introduction and purpose (strategic plan and district expectations)
2. Parent partnership to include attendance, dress code, student behavioral expectations
3. Overview of behavioral supports
4. Code of conduct and discipline
5. Q and A

All staff and parents are invited to attend and I would really like to see a large majority of our staff in attendance.

Food will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Attendance Challenge!!!

In conjunction with one of our district goals of increasing STUDENT ATTENDANCE, we will have an attendance competition between buildings.

Winning schools get served coffee at your building by Larry Linthacum and other central office administrators.

“Coffee with Larry”

Attendance competition

17 school competition starting September 1st, 2016

Two competitions

  • Highest student attendance rate (90/90)
  • Highest monthly attendance rate increase compared to same month last year

First week of October will recognize two winning schools

Each month following will have one winning school by rotating the two competitions (highest student rate & student monthly increase)

As part of our effort at West to increase student attendance, I will provide an ice cream float party to the class with the highest attendance rate each month! Announcements will be at the monthly assemblies! The first winner will be for the month of September! So, let your students and parents know in your newsletters!
