APRIL 2016 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to April!
Spring break is just around the corner! We have had some amazing weather recently and the sunshine is a reminder that the end of the year is just around the corner. Enjoy the break with your families and use this time to refocus your energies to finish off the year on a high note.
Your Term 2 Report marks and comments were posted in PowerSchool (under T2) last Monday. Hopefully you've had a chance to review them by now. If you have any questions, please contact your teachers.
Thanks to all of you who came out and joined us at our March Onsite Day. We had a great morning of swimming and then enjoyed having lunch and playing games together. The diving tank, lazy river and waterslide were definitely huge hits! We hope most of you can join us for our April Onsite Day!

Grade 9 students should be thinking ahead to next year and the courses they wish to select.
Provincial Achievement test for Grade 9 students are fast approaching. Grade 9's should be aware that the Part A Writing Exam (Narrative or Essay AND Business Letter) is scheduled to be written in Airdrie on Tuesday, May 10 from 9:00 - 11:00am with an additional half hour, if needed.
Mrs. Schultz will send out a detailed email shortly outlining further details about this exam and where it will be specifically written.
There are prep lessons available in your Language Arts 9 course if you would like to look ahead to those. Additionally, parents and students are encouraged to review the information available on Alberta Education's website:
Also, here is a link to Quest A+ where you can find practice tests from Alberta Education for all four of your core subjects:
StudyForge for JH Math Courses
There is a new resource added to your Math Moodle course under a tab labelled “StudyForge”. This resource consists of all of the math concepts you are required to know for the year. It has note pages, mini-videos to record your notes on and practice questions. Please give this a try when reviewing for your next exam. Let Mrs. Davis know if this is a useful resource.
Thank you to everyone who donated food for the Airdrie Food Bank in the fall. Here is a note from the Airdrie Food Bank:
"With your help, the Airdrie Food Bank was able to provide 1,814 hampers to 5,031 people in 2015, with 45% of that number being children. Because you cared enough to give, we were able to provide bread and extras to 17,059 people through our bread and extras (food recovery) program."
