Warrior Fun Day

We are beginning the planning process for our Warrior Fun Day, which is scheduled for Friday, March 11th. This WFD won't be based on academic performance, but instead, will be based on the Time to Teach System. At the beginning of the quarter, we shared with students that if they received 15 or more refocuses in the quarter, they would not be eligible to participate. These students will be assigned to classes during the WFD festivities. In order to plan for student placement, we will need 1 person from each department to remain in a classroom during WFD, or a rotating schedule can be developed within the department. (ELA, Math, SS, Science, PE/Elective, 6th grade). Please let me know by the end of next week who will be scheduled to remain in class for your department. Thanks!

SBAC Interim Assessments

This month ELA and Math teachers will be taking the interim assessments with their students. Sue has scheduled the chrome carts so that everyone has an opportunity to complete at least one this month, and a second one next month. I would like you to approach the interim assessments as an opportunity for students to experience both the technological aspects and the content aspects of the assessments. I recommend that you also administer them in a collaborative format with students working on the assessments in partners or small groups. This will provide students with the scaffolding of peers to solve problems, answer multiple choice questions, or answer constructed responses. This aligns with our focus on collaborative conversations as well, and we don't need the interim assessment data for our classroom use at this point. Our 6th grade teachers took the SBAC practice test in partners, and it was a great process!
