Teachers are required to maintain technology proficency. Every 5 years teachers must re-certify! How? If you have already taken Intel or Alive, you can earn technology proficiency points by attending technology workshops. And teacher's may earn in-service points toward their S.C. professional teacher re-certification!

Southside High School will host a professional development technology series to prepare teachers for the new technology refresh hardware and on-line programs that will be used with the new Chromebooks and iPads. Teachers should bring their laptops to each workshop training.
Workshop Descriptions:
Google Docs I
Teachers will learn how to access and use Google Docs. Teachers will learn how to integrate Google Docs into the 21st Century classroom as per our school technology goals. Please bring your laptop.
Google Docs II
Teachers will learn how to increase collaboration and student engagement using Google Docs. And as an added bonus, using Google Docs for collaborative brainstorming or writing and for self-grading quizzes will increase efficiency and save paper! Teachers will have an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and follow up on the Google Docs I PD. Please bring your laptop.
Google Classroom I
Teachers will learn how to access and set up Google Classroom, how to create and collect assignments paperlessly, how to create drive folders for assignments, and how to help keep students organized. Teachers will learn how to see who has or hasn't completed work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades. Please bring your laptop.
Google Classroom II
Teachers will learn how Google Classroom may be the perfect tool for a teacher to flip a lesson or an entire class. Videos, presentations, and other materials can be delivered to students outside of class using Google Classroom. Teachers will learn how students can access and review content prior to class and ask questions using Google Classroom’s discussion threads. Please bring your laptop.
Chromebooks
Teachers will learn how they can collaborate with other teachers on the same lesson plan or how to invite a guest speaker for a video chat. Teachers will learn how students can collaborate on an assignment, use research and presentational tools, or how to create on-line student portfolios using Chromebooks. Bring your laptop.
Office 365
Teachers will learn how to access and use the on-line cloud-based Office 365 programs with Chromebooks. Teachers must be prepared to show students how to save and access documents to the cloud. Bring laptop.
