Library Collaborations and Activities

What is the purpose of the Media Center? Promoting reading is an extremely important goal - we all know reading enhances student success. Creating positive reading experiences is always a priority of the library, but what else could the library do for students? So far this semester, classes from different departments have visited the Media Center to learn research methods, explore different types of media, and create unique learning products. Students have visited the library for a variety of reasons, inside and outside of class, and they are quickly discovering the library's valuable role in their learning.

The Wilkes Central High School library's mission aligns with our school's mission: Through promoting reading, inquiry-based learning, and 21st century skills, the WCHS Media Center will supplement a rigorous educational experience that leads to student success. If you are interested in learning more about what the library can do for students, faculty, and the community, feel welcome to drop by anytime to check out library goings-on and chat with Mrs. Snow.

2015-16 Battle of the Books

Book Battles

This year, Wilkes Central High School has its first Battle of the Books team. Students are reading a combination of fiction and nonfiction books, most of which are new to the library collection. Students are excited about the competition in the Spring and look forward to showing what they know to other teams. Stop by the Media Center any time to check out what the teams are reading this year, and ask a team member for book recommendations!
