Academic Focus: Week of December 7, 2015
Target Skill: Main Idea and Details
Reading Strategy: Summarize
Students are expected to identify the main idea in a text and distinguish it from the topic.
Vocabulary Strategy: Suffix -ly
Phonics: Long o o, oa, ow
Students will spell words with vowel digraphs and dipthongs.
Grammar: Using Proper Nouns
Students are expected to use capitalization for proper nouns.
Writing: Expository Writing/How to Build a Snowman
Students write expository and procedural or work-related texts to communicate ideas and information to specific audiences for specific purposes.
Students are expected to use concrete and pictorial models to compose and decompose numbers up to 1,200 in more than one way as a sum of so many thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones.
Students are expected to observe and describe rocks by size, texture, and color.

Review: so, grow
Monday--Tree Map/Word Sort
Tuesday--ABC Order (10 words)
Wednesday--Vowels/Consonants (same words as ABC order)
Thursday--5 Spelling Sentences or Spelling Story (5 words)
