IB Welcoming You!
Dearest Parents and Guardians,
I am Christine Vince, the Lakeville and Leonard Elementary IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator. I am here to support you, your child, and your child’s teacher in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme.
As an IB student, your child has the opportunity to be a part of a curriculum that encourages lifelong learners and a vision to make the world a better place. This is done through dedicated teachers that have a love for learning and a true passion to see your child become his/her best possible self. The IB elementary program is called, the Primary Years Programme, or PYP.
Here is a quick description of the elements of the PYP.
By incorporating these five Essential Elements into all the teaching and learning, we aim to develop the whole child.
- Attitudes- there are 12 attitudes we encourage students to show every day, in order to be the learner profile.
- Skills- there are 5 skills that students develop and use to be successful in the classroom and in life.
- Concepts- teaching students concepts, in addition to topics, helps students make connections in their learning which helps them build a greater depth of understanding. Some sample concepts are: perspective, community, change.
- Knowledge- consists of all the subject areas taught in school and all the required standards.
- Action- IB sees the ability to take action as the highest form of assessment because, if you can do something with your learning, then you have true understanding. Samples of taking action range from using manners and helping others to researching topics on your own and starting a petition to create change. We ask students, “Why is this learning important? What can you do with your new understanding?”
I am passionate about the work we do in Oxford with the IB Programme. My job is to help in every way, to support the students, the teachers, the entire school community.
If you have any questions about the program or would like to get involved, please feel free to send me an email, and we can work together.
Enjoy the day-
Christine Vince

Great job PARENTS! The parking lot is going much smoother this year! Thank you for your cooperation!
- Put the child's LAST name in the front window of your car
- Pull ALL THE WAY up to the cones before dropping off or picking up students
- Drivers should not exit their car when in the drop off lane (front or back lot)
- Smile and thank the people that are working hard to keep your kids safe!
