2nd Grade News
February 18-21
Quick Notes
- Many thanks to everyone that helped make our Valentine's Day parties a success. The children had a wonderful time!
- Nightly Reading- Please have your child read their "teacher choice" book at home each evening for at least 15 minutes. While we LOVE and ENCOURAGE students to read books that they choose, their choices may not be helping them grow as readers. Split the time, read the teacher choice and then the student choice book...everyone wins!
- Please help your child remember to charge their iPad each night. Also, ask your child if he/she has working headphones...it is that time of year when you can find great deals!
- Please label cold-weather gear.

Weekly Learning Objectives
Reading- We will look for figurative language in our reading. When an author compares two seemingly unrelated items we will decide how those things are related and how they help build a picture in our minds.
FunDations (phonics study)- We will vowel consonant e words and will practice adding suffixes to those words. We will learn the /z/ sound can be spelled in several ways. We will review compound words.
Writing- We will share our opinions about books that we are reading. We will make our writing stronger, longer, and more convincing by using examples from the text to support our ideas.
Science- We will learn about heat, sound, and light energy.
Math- We will learn how to read, analyze, and interpret data using pictographs and bar graphs.
