SOL Testing Reminders
You can help your child be prepared to do their best on the SOL tests by doing the following things:
- Make sure your child gets enough sleep the night before each test.
- Give your child a healthy breakfast.
- Make sure your child arrives to school on time.
- Be positive and encourage your child to do their best!
All children need to attend school on testing days. Please do not schedule doctor or dentist appointments during testing. Since testing must take place under secure conditions, classrooms may not be disturbed once testing has begun. Please make sure your child is at school every day on time during testing. If your child is not here on time, they will miss the test that day and be assigned a make-up test day.

Change in Tdap Requirements
In April 2018, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) changed the minimum recommended age for the tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) adolescent booster vaccine from 10 to 11 years. Although the vaccine is approved by the FDA to be given at a younger age as part of a catch-up-schedule, a routine adolescent booster dose of Tdap should be administered at no one younger than 11 years of age.
To align with current guidelines, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation effective July 1, 2019, that changes the grade in which students are evaluated for receipt of the Tdap vaccine from sixth to seventh grade.
5th Grade Baby Pictures Needed!
The end of the year is fast approaching, and we have a special surprise for our 5th graders during our 5th Grade Awards Assembly in June. We need your help! We are asking that 5th grade parents send in a baby/toddler picture of their student. The pictures will only be used within our school during our ceremony. Please have your student’s picture sent in no later than Wednesday, June 5th. Any pictures received after that date may not be included in our presentation.
All pictures may be sent by email to: christina.solarczyk@mpark.net. Please include your child’s name and homeroom teacher in the email, so that we know who’s in the picture.
PowerSchool Enrollment - Online Returning Student Data Verification will open in June
Parents of returning students must access the PowerSchool Enrollment online forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://ps.mpark.net/public. The online forms contain demographic and emergency information you entered last year. During this process, you will verify the information is accurate or update any information that has changed. Parents will also electronically sign annual agreement forms for school district policies.
At least one parent is required to create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account. If you have multiple children in Manassas Park City Schools, you must verify information for each student, however only one parent account is necessary.
· If you have created a PowerSchool Parent Portal account in a previous school year, please use that account to log in. Please do not create a new account.
· If you have not created a PowerSchool parent account, directions can be found at http://www.mpark.net/parents/directions-for-parent-portal.
If you have questions about your account, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
In preparation for the June opening and to make the process as smooth as possible, please login to verify your existing PowerSchool Parent Portal account or create a new PowerSchool Parent Portal account if not already created prior to the end of the 2018-2019 school year.
