November 2022 News

We are thankful for November

Fall has ushered in cooler temperatures! Our Mayo Mallards had a great time celebrating Halloween with friends and classmates. It was wonderful to see so many community members viewing the school parade and helping behind the scenes. Many magical childhood memories were made.

In November it is important to take time to reflect upon things we are thankful for. Along with health and family, I am thankful for in-person instruction where teachers and students are able to interact and learn from one another. Here in the school building, I have the pleasure of interacting with families and observing the academic and social growth students are making. Please take the time to thank your child's teacher(s) for all they do on a daily basis, they are simply an amazing staff! When I think of things I am thankful for, my role as principal at Mayo is certainly high on the list.

November is National Native American Heritage Month

November is Indigenous Peoples’ Month! This month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

Students will be learning and exploring throughout this month in school, and we encourage you to participate at home as well.
