From the Principal's Desk...
I am the good shepherd
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have reached the point in the school year where it seems that everything that I am doing is focused on our end of the year events or planning for next year. I understand and recognize that this is critically important, and I know that all of these things need to be addressed.
We are working to try to make sure that several of the celebrations that we were unable to have at the end of last year do happen this year in some form. We are planning for our Field Day, outside K-3 parties, Candle Ceremony and Graduation. I am very thankful to all of the parents, faculty and staff who will make all of these events possible.
I do find myself sometimes wondering what I may be missing in the moment by focusing so much on what comes next. I believe that we all experience this when we are very busy. I know that many of you have your children involved in all kinds of sports and other activities. These good and important events take up space on our calendars and in our heads. So how do I, how do we, enter into the moment?
In this Sunday’s Gospel (JN 10:11-18), we hear the familiar narrative of the Good Shepherd. Jesus says, “I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep.”
During this very busy time, may we pause for a moment and reflect upon Jesus as OUR Good Shepherd. May we place our trust in the one who lays down His life for us. May we witness to our daughters and sons that we believe that we are known and loved in this very moment by our Lord. May we hear Jesus say to us in this very moment, I am the Good Shepherd.
Peace,
Dan Minelli
