The First Day Of K!

We are looking forward to beginning our school year on Monday, August 24th. We have planned out a first day that will enable our parents and students to meet their teacher and see their classroom. These are short visits within the classroom with your teacher and a limited number of other students with their parents. It is not necessary to arrive more than 5 minutes early for your time. Please follow social distancing guidelines when in our parking lot and building. The rest of the day will take place at home using the chromebooks. Please complete the eLearning Activity Board. All squares are required as attendance. The eLearning segment of our day will help parents and students become familiar with what eLearning will look like and prepare everyone for a successful school year! We value your partnership!

eLearning For First Day of K

Below you will find the eLearning Activity Board. All of the activities on the board must be completed for attendance on the first day of K. There are lots of choices available within the board such as the order completed, where you set up your eLearning station and what the content of your correspondence with your teacher will be. Take this opportunity to have fun and help your child feel comfortable with the distance learning skills the choice board offers. This is a wonderful opportunity to establish eLearning in your home to be prepared for anything we will face together.

Greetings from Mrs. Gutierrez!

Welcome to the ELC! I am so excited to be your child's first principal! I am dedicated to the students at the ELC and look forward to being a part of the beginning of their journey of being a Brickie! My husband and I have two children, Aidan, 14 and Kennedy, 10. When I am not wearing my principal hat, I put on my golf visor and caddy for my children! We are a golf family! The staff and I look forward to a wonderful school year and thank you in advance for your support. Together, we will make a positive difference in your child’s life. Let’s have a successful school year Growing Up Brickie Strong!

Back To School Routine

With just a few days left before school, take this opportunity to set your child up on a daily routine for success. Read through our checklist and make sure all points on it are covered and ready for the first day. Taking just a bit of time will help ensure your child's school day will go smoothly and help them gain confidence. Elearning families, make sure your are setting limits on screen time as your child will have an increase with school. All students will benefit from turning off screens 2 hours before bedtime and having a regular bedtime each night.

Helpful Hints and Procedures

Our School is proud of our procedures that keep our students and staff safe. We have developed systems that maximize safety during some of the most active times of our day. Please understand that these policies and procedures are based on our perspective of safety for all and are not meant to inconvenience our families. We appreciate your cooperation. We are proud to have a full time School Resource Officer who is a uniformed officer from the Hobart Police Department.

School Bus Safety

As we start school it is important for the safety of our children to be aware of our school buses.

The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.

Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.

Bus Procedures

Parents or family members must be present at bus stop with their purple sign to get their kindergartner off the bus. Our transportation department uses the Here Comes the Bus app to communicate bus arrival times at bus stops. Please understand it is not unusual for our buses to run late the first couple weeks of school as students are getting to know their procedures. Thank you for your patience.
