Alkali metals are metals found in group one of the periodic table. The metals are very reactive especially when exposed to water. An alkali metal has the same characteristics all metals, such as malleable, ductile, and good conductors of heat and electricity.
Alkali Metals and Water
When an Alkali Metal is exposed with water, there is an explosion. Some of the metals react with little affects while others cause a huge explosion. Francium, the most reactive, can explode just through the water vapor in the air.
