Register Returning Students Now
Parents can register returning students online to save time, but middle and high school students will still have an opportunity to visit their school to pick up class schedules, locker combinations and parking permits, and to get ID photos taken. If you have questions about online registration, please contact your child’s school.
Families need to wait until August to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch for the full 2022-23 school year.
Have you moved? Will your children be attending a different school? You may register online, but please notify your new school. Elementary school offices will reopen the last week in July. You will need to provide proof of residency to your new school.

AK STAR testing information
ASD window: March 27 - April 14
Grades 3-10
ASD students in grades 3rd through tenth will participate in AK STAR testing between the dates of March 27 - April 14.
AK STAR, the Alaska System of Academic Readiness, is comprised of English language arts and mathematics and is administered to students in grades 3-9. The Alaska Science Assessment is administered to students in grades 5, 8 and 10. The purpose of a large-scale, summative assessment is to provide parents and schools an overall picture of a student’s progress in meeting the Alaska standards at grade level.
How to prepare your student for a great test day:
Parents can locate resources for AK STAR test and the Alaska Science Assessment, including directions for Student Readiness (Practice Tests and Tutorials), student testing times and general assessment information on the ASD website at https://www.asdk12.org/akstar.
Parents can also help by ensuring their children are well rested, eat a nutritious breakfast, and are at school on time for the days of testing. Please avoid scheduling appointments on your child’s testing days.
COUNT DOWN TO KINDERGARTEN
Count down to Kindergarten will have many upcoming events in person. Families can learn more and/or register through the ASD website. These fun interactive events share skills and information to help prepare preschool age child for blasting off to kindergarten.
