Pasadena High School Alumni Association

Alumni Association Restart

After several years hiatus, following the death of our founding president Stacey Harvey and two years of COVID, the PHS Alumni Association moves into high gear for this new school year.

Recently, Alumni Executive Board members met with our new PHS Principal Dr. Mathew Kodama to share our goals for 2022-2023. Attending the meeting were Cheryl Morris (1982), Marianne Alcorn (1982), Father Brad Karelius (1963) and Alumni Board President Rick Dones (1983). Our plan is to grow PHS alumni membership, recruit active members for the Board, raise funds for academic scholarships and to support PHS special activities, recruit volunteers for events (i.e., campus beautification), and increase communication through an alumni contact for each graduating class.

Pasadena High School has been recognized by US News for its accomplishments and its challenges. While the total minority enrollment is 81% and 62% of students are economically disadvantaged, the school is ranked within the top 14% of all high schools in California. The AP participation rate at PHS is 51%. Graduation rate is 97% (well above state median). Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.

Recently, the PHS Alumni Association awarded $10,000 for Boys’ and Girl’s athletic equipment; $2,500 to the PHS Hall of Fame; and $2,000 in academic scholarships to graduating students. Our funding for support of the school depends on alumni membership dues and donations. This is the challenge for us. We are reaching out to all classes to consider how the school has enriched your life and education. Public schools today are under intense financial pressure and your Alumni Association has much to do to support the students and care for the campus. Please consider a membership gift of $25. for 2022 or any gift you can make to affirm your gratitude for being a PHS Bulldog. The PHS Alumni Association is a certified 501c3 nonprofit organization.

You can join/renew your alumni membership on our new website:
