Early Childhood COVID -19 Plan of Action
Dear Early Childhood Families,
We appreciate your understanding and support in continuing your child’s education during this challenging time. We know we cannot replicate a Montessori Classroom at home, but we have tried to supply as many resources as we can to make this a positive learning adventure. We are providing a schedule of activities and assignments that need to be completed weekly. With that being said, you know your child so please be mindful of their needs. We will be here to support you, Ms. Jen & Ms. Martha will be available Monday through Friday 9:00-10:00 am via phone or email. Every Friday please bring in your child’s work from the week to turn into the box by the office.
Wishing you all the best,
MMA Early Childhood Team
Lower Elementary COVID- 19 Plan of Action
Dear MMA Lower Elementary Families,
Lower Elementary teachers have created a blog. This blog will contain all resources that will be used for distance learning for grades 1-3. Please access the blog at http://blogs.mariamontessoriacademy.org/lowerel/
In the blog you will find suggested times and schedules. The teachers have created a two week student work chart. Please have your child check off their works that they are doing daily. When the work charts and work is completed you can bring to the front office into the teacher basket. The office will be open from 9:00-11:00 and 4:00-6:00.
This blog has been created to provide Distance Learning support. All Lower Elementary teachers will be contributing to this blog. It is the main resource for all Lower Elementary families to get access to both required and additional resources.
Please view the attached work chart for a weekly list of works for children to complete. We understand that your family’s unique situation will require its own schedule. We have assembled a suggested schedule and hope that you will find it helpful.
Your first task is to enlist your family in creating a space that is conducive to learning. Maria Montessori teaches that the environment is the child’s first teacher. There are many suggestions online of Montessori inspired spaces at home. In our classrooms, children are expected to complete their “jobs” that contribute to the community including caring for plants and pets, cleaning, washing dishes, preparing snacks, etc. We encourage you to implement jobs that will create ownership, bless your family with a beautiful space, and bring peace to you and your children.
You are your child’s first and best teacher and your home is their first school. Involve your children in all of your activities; cooking, cleaning, setting the table, etc. Each of these experiences will bring you closer and teach valuable skills to your child.
Please know that our thoughts are with you. At this time, the most important thing is to protect these precious children, both physically and emotionally. We encourage you to spend time with your families and create safe places for everyone.
We are available to support you through email and the Remind app. If you contact a teacher with a question or concern, you should hear back from them by 4:00 pm. We will also periodically update this blog with more ideas, so please subscribe.
Sincerely,
The Lower Elementary Team
Upper Elementary COVID-19 Plan of Action
Dear Upper Elementary Parents,
Your Upper Elementary team has been very busy preparing lessons and work for your students. We would like to remind you that students are expected to continue working and learning during this unique situation. This is not an extended Spring Break and the expectation is that completed work will be turned in by Friday, March 27th during office hours. Office hours will be from 9:00-11:00 AM and 4:00-6:00 PM every week day.
Below you will find information on how to access online learning resources. Please contact your own students’ teacher if you have any questions about the websites, logins, or lessons. Teachers will be available throughout this time to help students and families navigate this unprecedented situation. Please be patient and mindful that this is also a new experience for teachers and we are doing the best we can to help your child continue learning.
You will need your student’s SSID number to log in to most of the sites your student will be utilizing. Most students should have it memorized. You can also log in to Aspire, which is where you all registered for school next year, and look it up. You can find login information on Google Classroom under your teacher’s folder on how to log into each individual online resource. We will be utilizing IXL, Utah Compose, and your student’s school gmail account.
All children will have access to online resources. They will be available on Google Classroom. This is where lessons, login information, and links to all the worksheets and assignments will be located. Packets will be available to pick up in the entryway of the school during office hours, starting Wednesday morning at 9am. They will have printed copies of all worksheets and some lessons. EACH student will need to come and pick up their packet. You can also access ALL the packet information digitally at your child’s google classroom page. See instructions below to sign up. Even if you only plan to use the digital resources, we strongly recommend that you pick up your student’s packet at the school.
Also, if you haven’t signed up for your classroom’s Remind App please do so now. You should have received instructions in a previous email.
Google Classroom
