Learning Option Transfer Process

Parents/guardians wanting to switch modes of instruction for their child (Virtual Learning Academy to in-person or in-person to the Virtual Learning Academy) have the option to do so during the Texas Education Agency’s designated learning transfer windows.

The next opportunity to submit a transfer request from one mode to the other is Oct. 5 through Oct. 21.

Those interested in transferring must log in to their Skyward Family Access account to submit the form within that time frame. Specific instructions are available here. The form will close at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21. You do not need to fill out the form if you want to stay in your current learning mode.

Transfers submitted during the noted window will take effect on Monday, Nov. 4, which is the first day of the Third Six Weeks grading period. View this calendar to see all the transfer windows and grading periods for the 2020-21 school year.

PLEASE NOTE: Beginning Nov. 4, all students who have selected in-person instruction will only be counted present when they are physically in class unless they have been quarantined due to COVID-19. Quarantined students will be able to follow current practices to gain attendance for days they are quarantined.

After submitting a transfer request, campus personnel will be reaching out to parents to inform them of their child’s schedule changes once those changes are completed.

It is highly encouraged that students commit to a learning option for one semester to ensure continuity of teacher and schedule. View more information about Fall Reopening 2020 here.

REMINDER: Students who switch learning modes are not guaranteed to have the same teachers or choices for elective courses.

District SEL Survey

All Mansfield ISD students in grades 3-12 and staff members are encouraged to complete the social-emotional learning (SEL) needs assessment survey.

Social-emotional learning is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work and life success. Through the survey, MISD will understand how to best support students and employees with specific focus on well-being and social-emotional learning.

The survey will be available Oct. 13-28. Please note that no identifying information will be collected or reported except for the name of the campus being referred. If you have questions regarding this survey, contact Mendy Gregory, director of social-emotional learning, at

Change For Absence Protocol For In- Person Students

Please note that beginning Wednesday, Nov. 4, the beginning of the Third Six Weeks grading period, students who have selected in-person instruction will only be counted present when they are physically in class unless they have been quarantined due to COVID-19.

This means that in-person students will no longer be able to turn in assignments by 11:59 p.m. of that day to be counted present. They must be physically present in class to avoid an absence.

Quarantined students will be able to follow current practices to gain attendance for days they are quarantined.

Students enrolled in the MISD Virtual Learning Academy will continue to follow their current attendance practices.

Mental Mondays Lessons

Gators are committed to teaching students how to be accountable for their actions and how to be KIND to one another. Teachers use morning meetings (aka communinty circles) to discuss character building, team building, and self- esteem building topics. We encourage parents to watch these videos with your kids and discuss how they can apply this to their lives.

Kindness videos:

Mrs. Charles will update themes and videos each month. Feel free to share any good ones you find.

Colors For Caring

What is Colors for Caring?

No one should fight cancer alone. That’s why on the first Monday of each month that students are in school, Mansfield ISD is encouraging the community to wear a color that represents a cancer that affected the life of a loved one. (View a cancer color chart here.)

The Colors for Caring Days for 2020-21 are:

  • Monday, October 5
  • Monday, November 9
  • Monday, December 7
  • Monday, January 11
  • Monday, February 1

Share your Colors for Caring picture with us by emailing them to or using the hashtag #ColorsforCaring on social media. All #ColorsforCaring photos will be added to the district’s photo gallery.

Gideon Remote Learning Website

What is remote learning?

  • This is when an in- person student is working from home due to vacations, appointments, quarantine, or an other documented absence.

Why would my student or I need to visit this website?

  • Working with your student on assignments from home, can be difficult without the support of a live teacher. This website, created by our amazing Gideon team, will house the lessons that are aligned to your child's assignments. The goal of this site is to provide the remote learner with explanations of their assignments via presentations, videos, and recorded instruction.

PE Reminder...

To help eliminate germs we are having PE outside as much as possible this year. Please send your child to school with a water bottle everyday. They will always have time to fill it up before class if needed. We do not have drinking fountains for them to get a drink (only water stations to refill bottles). Water is extremely important, especially when its warm outside.

Please make sure your child is wearing tennis shoes to school on their PE days. See the cAMP Newsletter or Grade Level Newsletter for your child's PE schedule.

When cooler weather starts approaching, please send your child to school with a jacket as we will still be going outside for PE unless it is unsafe to.

Report Card Grades Posted In Skyward

  • Progress Report Grades for the 2nd grading period will be posted to Skyward on Thursday, October 15
  • Contact your child's teacher(s) if you have questions or concerns about your child's grades.

Whether in- person or virtual, all students are held accountable for submitting all assignments. Failure to submit assignments and complete work can result in a student not being able to promote to the next grade level.

It is imperative that you support your son/ daughter with keeping up with their assignments and participating in class everyday, including Computers, Art, Music, and PE.
