St. Louis Preschool Newsletter
May 2018
Parents Corner
This is it! For some of you, this will be your last Preschool Newsletter. Mrs. Amberger, Mrs. Wanstrath, Mrs. Watson and I will always be thankful that you allowed us to be a part of your child’s education. We have seen such amazing growth and development since August, and we truly enjoyed the journey. The children have worked hard and are so proud!
This is also my last Preschool Newsletter and it really will be hard to say goodbye to SLP and all these wonderful kiddos. Each one of these children and families has touched my heart and truly made me a better person. I will always be grateful for this experience.

God In Our Lives
During the month of May we switch our Morning Prayer from “The Lord’s Prayer” to the “Hail Mary.” The line leader will get to hold the statue of Mary while we pray. We will field trip over to school to see the statue of Mary and all the beautiful flowers after May crowning. We will talk about Mary's role and remember how she loves us all.
Each class will continue to work on various Bible crafts that will continue to stress God’s value in our lives.
Worry Angels
Worry dolls originate from Guatemala. The idea is, you tell your worries to the doll before bed, place the doll under your pillow and by morning the doll and your worries are gone. We will modify this fable by having the doll be an angel. We will have the children tell their worry to the angel, put it under their pillow and the angel will take the worry up to God and be back under their pillow by morning. Year after year I have students and parents come to me and say how much the worry angel has made a difference during difficult times.
PreK Batesville Public Library Field Trip May 11th
The PreK children will be visiting the Batesville Public Library with Mrs. Dickey. She will be giving us a tour of the library, sharing a story and letting us play in the children’s section of the library. We will go two times, one for the morning class, and one for the afternoon class. It will be a walking field trip. Any parent is welcome to come. Please dress your child in shoes and clothes that will allow them to walk! The date is 5/11 and we will meet Mrs. Dickey at 8:30 and 12:30. If it is pouring rain or storming, we will not be going.
Alphabet News
Willie w. Weasle
Xavier x. Fox
Yancy y. Yak
Yancy Y Yak is always on the phone! This gives us an opportunity to review phone numbers and the number to call if there is an emergency. The excitement is building as we get closer to the end of the alphabet. We will watch a video of a child yodeling and of course we have to try it!
Zeke z. Zebra
We will end the alphabet with Zeke Z Zebra. We will zig zag around the room and work on patterns with zebra stripes. It is exciting for the kids to finish the alphabet! We will be practicing singing our zoophonics songs...at the slow pace and the super fast pace.
Putting It All Together
As we are wrapping up the last weeks of school, my goal is to challenge the children. We will play hard, pray hard, and work hard! We hope to get outside as much as possible and move all of our muscles. We hope to instill the feeling that Jesus is our best friend...always close to our hearts. We hope to review all the letters, numbers, shapes, etc that we have learned over the year!
Summer Fun!
Learning is everywhere! With children this age they love, love, love learning. So this summer get out the play dough, sing some songs, read lots of books, jump around and ENJOY!
