Kids Heart Challenge Kick Off
The Kids Heart Challenge kicked off in March to support the American Heart Association and to learn how to keep our hearts healthy! This year, our school learned about staying strong in heart, body and mind while helping others with special hearts. 1 in 3 are affected by heart disease and we wanted to help!
Buckeye Elementary raised $7,122.86 for AHA and earned free PE and recess equipment for Buckeye Elementary. Thank you to our PE staff, Ms. Bryk and Ms. Strang and to our Buckeye community for your HEART WORK on this fantastic community service project!
Run with the Bucks Program Kick Off
The Run with the Bucks program kicked off Thursday, March 23rd and runs through Tuesday, May 9th. It is an after school running program for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. The program involves games and fitness activities including walking and running outside on the Buckeye Campus. Participation in the program included registration for the Craig Bailey Memorial 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on May 13th and an end of season celebration. More information is available at this link.
Congratulations to Mrs. Korinne Caniglia
Mrs. Caniglia was the recipient of the Buckeye Elementary classified staff's You Made Your Mark Award. She is a classroom paraprofessional with the 5th Grade's Intervention Specialist.
Real World Ratios Lesson
Students in Mrs. Abraham’s math classes became Paint Engineers for the day. They mixed primary colors and green with white to create new paint colors using ratios. The results included fantastic colors like Shrek Green, Dill Pickle, and Sunrise Surprise.
Classroom / Teacher Requests for 2023-24 School Year
Friendly reminder to Buckeye parents and guardians: we will not be taking any classroom and/or teacher requests for the 2023-24 school year.
Please Report Dismissal Changes by 2 PM
We recently have had a large increase in parents changing their students' transportation very late in the day. This causes bus delays as we remove students from the bus, as well as confusion for students and teachers about where students are going. Per the Elementary Handbook Section 4 letter J "All pick up calls to the office should be made by prior to 2:00 pm, please". This is for any change in transportation. Communication that comes in after 2:00 pm will need to be considered on a case by case basis. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Morning Car Rider Drop Off
With the slick roads, and construction, sometimes the 8:45 am cut off for the car rider drop off line cannot be met. We do understand that once in a while life happens. If the playground fence is closed during car rider drop off, students are to be brought to the main office by their parents. Even if you see staff walking in, please go to the main office to drop your child off. Do not let them out of the car and open the fence gate. If you have any questions, please call the office for assistance.
