To be a great athlete you have to be smart about your nutrition, becoming an elite athlete requires good genes, good training, good conditioning and a sensible diet, optimial nutrition is ESSENTIAL for peak performance. Nutritional misinformation can do as much harm to the ambitious athlete as good nutrition can help.
Carbohydrates: Athletes benefit the most from the amount of carbohydrates stored in the body. In the early stages of exercise, carbohydrates provide 40-50 percent of the energy requirement.
Carbohydrates yield more energy per unit of oxygen consumed than fats. Because oxygen often is the limiting factor in long duration events, it is beneficial for the athlete to use the energy source requiring the least amount of oxygen per kilacalorie produced. As work intensity increases, carbohydrate utilization increases.
Water: Water is an important nutrient for the athlete. Athletes should start any event hydrated and replace as much lost fluid as possible by drinking chilled liquids at frequent intervals during the event. Chilled fluids are absorbed faster and help lower body temperature.
Fats: Fat also provides body fuel. For moderate exercise, about half of the total energy expenditure is derived from free fatty acid metabolism. If the event lasts more then one hour, the body may use mostly fats for energy . Consumption of fat should not fall below 15 percent of total energy intake

I interviewed Bjarmi Skarp, a general manager for the Fsu Basketball team, i decided to interview him because of his general manager position for a basketball team and also because he is a former basketball player
1. Bjarmi, what is the most important thing to you when you search for new players for the Club?
Bjarmi said this: For our organization it is crucial to find players with a good work ethic, that have big dreams and think more then one year ahead.
2. Now the club is in the Dominos league, but at the same time you‘re losing a player from the starting lineup to america for school, how do you intend to make up for the loss of this player?
Bjarmi: First and foremost we will try to find a player amongst our own to fill this void, but if that doesnt work out then we will try to find a player with the benefits that we are looking for.
3. There is a rumour that the club is trying to bring back a former player of the team in Chris Caird, What would he do for the team as a player?
Bjarmi: Well that agreement hasn‘t reached very far, but that is a player who know the club and its foundation. He would strengthen the team as a whole aswell as having the chance to help our players grow and get better, as player and as people.

Einar Árni tekur við liðinu af Benedikt Guðmundssyni sem stýrt hefur liðinu með góðum árangri undanfarin ár.
Einar Árni hefur þjálfað í Njarðvík undanfarin ár bæði meistaraflokk og nú síðast sem yfirþjálfari yngri flokka. Einnig hefur hann þjálfað yngri landslið KKÍ.
Samhliða ráðningu Einars Árna hefur verið samið við heimamenn í meistaraflokksliði Þórs. Baldur Þór var ráðinn sem styrktarþjálfari og aðstoðarþjálfari meistaraflokks. En einnig eru Grétar Ingi, Þorsteinn Már og Emil Karel tilbúnir í slaginn næsta vetur. Leikmenn í drengja- og unglingaflokki munu styrkja liðið
Einar Árni Jóhannsson signed a contract for three years today to become the coach of Þór Þorlákshöfn‘s mens team.
Einar will be taking over the team from Benedikt Guðmundsson who has been with the team and lead them to great success the last couple of years.
Einar Árni has coached in Njarðvík the last couple of years, both the mens team and as head coach of their youth teams as well. He has also coached some of the younger national teams for KKÍ.
As well as hiring Einar, Þór has signed contracts with some of the locals, Baldur Þór was signed as the strength and conditioning coach for the team as well as assistant coach of the team. Also Grétar Ingi, Þorsteinn Már and Emil Karel have signed to play with the team next season. Players from the club of some of the younger teams will also strengthen the team.
