No School Monday
Watch for construction on Tuesday, the 8th.
Some of you may remember the good old days when we didn't go to school until after Labor Day. Kind of sad, isn't it, that that time has past. The good news, however, is that school is well under way and we will finish up sooner in the Spring, providing we don't have a difficult Winter.
I am so thankful for our volunteers who are helping in our library this year! They are a blessing to students and teachers alike. Rita McVey, Mrs. Hile, and Mrs. Brewer are our volunteer librarians. Mr. Uphus and Pastor Clark are our volunteer physical education teachers for grades four through eight. Loretta Slayton visits our lower grades classroom on Mondays and reads with each student. And there are others. Our volunteers make a world of difference in our school, and we are so thankful for the help and encouragement! .
We have three academy student workers in the mornings. They can be found helping out with the PE program, grading papers, copying things, shelving books, helping students with a problem, and a myriad of other things. They are a blessing too!
We have received a number of boxes which have articles for our new Science program in them. In order to make room to store the boxes not being used, we are cleaning out the teachers storeroom. Again. There will be things in the hall for a few days as we do so. If you see something there that belongs to you, or you know who it does belong to, please take it. Somehow, things have accumulated again. The things in the hall do not belong to a teacher or class. If it is something we need to keep, please talk to me. We are attempting to keep that school storage room clean and up to date. I know this does not directly effect you, but so you know why the stuff in the hall.
We have thirty-six students in our school this year. Each one a blessing, as are you, their families. As we were having our weekly joint worship with our pastor this morning, I was once again thankful for the way the Lord has provided for our little school. Let's not ever take it for granted. It is our special privilege to be able to talk and learn about Jesus here. This is what makes our school so special, and the reason we exist. Thank a church member whenever you have the opportunity for their support. It takes a village to raise a child. Our church is our village.
On Tuesday, the 8th, when we return to school, the city will be working on making sidewalks in our town. Watch for the workers and perhaps allow a few extra minutes of travel time, as there may be delays.
Picture day is September 17th. Keep that date in mind. More information will be sent home after the break.
IOWA test are coming up, field trips, programs, special event games with our PE classes, and more. It will be a busy year.
Have a Blessed Sabbath and enjoy the break!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Olson
