College Application Blitz 2023- FREE College Applications!!
Class of 2024!! Our friends at Licking Heights HS will be hosting the College Application Blitz on Thursday, October 19th from 8am to 11:30am. We will be taking a busload of college-bound seniors. This event is a college fair with a purpose and the goal is to submit your college applications that day. All colleges in attendance are WAIVING their application fees for the day. You can check out the list of college and see how your senior can attend here.
Columbus Suburban College Fair
Otterbein University Sunday Oct 8th 1-3:30pm Students are asked to pre-register BEFORE the fair.
1. Go to StriveFair.com
2. Fill out the short bio form to get your barcode
Then, at the college fair, as students visit college tables they will be able to scan their barcode if they are interested in that college.
Today's high school students have options (besides college) after high school. (Hello, Intel!)
What are the options? What is the process? Are they a fit for your family?
Register for our FREE webinar on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 pm, we will be joined by representatives from Ohio Technical Centers to talk about postsecondary (AFTER high school) educational options. All registrants will receive the recording.
We'll talk about in-demand, well-paid, hands-on careers in the fields of healthcare (medical assisting, nursing, billing, etc.), welding, HVAC, public safety, commercial drivers, technology, culinary, automation/robotics maintenance, etc.
All grades are welcome to register; however, the timing is most suited to Ohio parents of 11th and 12th graders thinking about their student’s future after high school.
Parents and students should watch together!
Even if your student isn't a fit for these opportunities, well-informed parents will appreciate hearing this message so they can spread the info to their friends.

Meet Fabio and Leo. Welcome to Lakewood HS and welcome to the USA!
Fabio (L) is from Italy. His favorite class is Astronomy. School is different here because in Italy, students stay in the same class and the teachers move. Leo (R) is from Munich, Germany. His favorite class is Team Sports because he gets to play American sports which he has not played before. In Germany he does not choose classes and there are different subjects everyday, at Lakewood, the subjects are the same each day.
Clash of the Classes
LHS held our first Pep Rally on September 1st and featured the Clash of the Classes. Throughout the year there will be class competitions and the winning class will win a trip to....King's Island!! Stay tuned for details.
Graduation Seal in Focus- Honors Diploma- NEW!!
Students can use the Student Strength Demonstration to replace the ACT/SAT, GPA or World Language requirement for any Honors Diploma. Details can be found here. Seniors can use the former or new criteria to qualify for an Honors Diploma
Does your student have a job? Did you know they can earn elective credit for that?
Students complete the LHS work contracts well as their Work Contact Info that can be found on our counseling site. All of this information goes to Mr. Mohler, RM 118, our work coordinator. He oversees the Work Program and each year helps several students earn an Ohio Means Jobs Seal towards their graduation path.
Graduation Plans
The LHS Counseling Department has been working with our students on their graduation plans. As you may already be aware, earning a high school diploma is a lot different than it used to be. In addition to earning (specific) credits, students must Show Competency and Demonstrate Readiness. You can learn about Graduation Pathways here.
