AVID ~ As the semester begins to wind down our learning coaches and scholars can proactively manage the stress they may feel as deadlines and due dates approach. Below are a few suggestions to support your scholar’s emotional health during this time:
Use a planner to keep track of assignments, and as they finish each assignment check them off to create a feeling of accomplishment.
Use your Parent Scholar Portal (PSP) to help track your scholar’s progress.
Organize your scholar’s workspace and create a distraction-free environment.
Encourage your scholar to study earlier rather than later in the day to avoid procrastination.
Seek support from your scholar’s teachers and counselors, and ask for suggestions to help your scholar succeed.
LAKE ELSINORE SCIENCE LAB ~ The science wet lab has been rescheduled for Friday, May 31 from 8am until 3pm at the Lake Community Center in Lake Elsinore. Please RSVP here to reserve your spot to complete your science wet labs.

MULTI -TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORTS (MTSS) ~ This week’s MTSS spotlight is on the introduction of how to use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at home. The first step of how to teach PBIS in the home is to set clear expectations. This entails creating a behavior matrix that establishes expected behaviors for essential routines at home. Start with the 3Bs: be safe, be responsible, and be respectful. An example of the 3Bs are: bring dishes to the sink once you are done eating (be responsible) watch out for hot dishes/stove, sharp knives and glass (be safe) and listen while others speak (be respectful).
SAT 2019-2020 REGISTRATION ~ Registration for the 2019-20 SAT® administrations is now open. The SAT administrations are available four times in late-summer/fall throughout the U.S. during the August weekend, the October weekend, October SAT School Day, and the November weekend.
