What is a Color Run?

This is Centennial’s newest fundraiser where families, friends and neighbors pledge money to support the students as they jog or walk laps around a designated course. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the students of Centennial. The Color Run will take place during the Fall Picnic.

How does the Color Run work?

Centennial students, dressed in a white t-shirt, run (or jog, walk, skip, etc.) laps around a marked course while their coaches and teachers gently dust them with colored cornstarch on their shirts. It will make a colorful mess on the shirts, but doesn’t hurt at all. It is like getting into a powdered sugar food fight. The powder is food grade quality, 100% nontoxic, completely biodegradable, made in the USA, colored cornstarch.

How do we raise money?

Prior to the Color Run, each student obtains pledges and donations in support of his/her Color Run efforts. Sponsors may sign up to pledge a flat dollar amount and/or a per lap donation. ALL of the money raised will go directly to benefit the students of Centennial.

Can I get involved?

ABSOLUTELY! There are many opportunities to help out with this event before, during, and after! Look for information about volunteer sign-ups coming in our eBlasts and on www.centennialpta.net.

What do I do next?

Please collect pledges and donations on your PLEDGE FORM attached. Ask family, relatives, friends, co-workers, employers, etc. for support. DON’T FORGET TO SIGN AND TURN IN YOUR PLEDGE FORM by Friday, October 14th because it also serves as permission for your child to participate. Turning in your pledge form allows us to have your lanyard ready to go the day of the run!

What happens after the Color Run?

After the Color Run you return your lanyard to the PTA volunteers and teachers. In a few days your lanyards and pledge cards will be returned to you with your donations tallied. It will then be time to begin collecting your donations! Don't forget to say a big "Thank You" to all of those who cheered you on and supported Centennial Elementary!

What is the color powder made of ?

The colored powder is made from corn starch and colors that are approved for use in foods, cosmetics and/or drugs.

What time should I arrive ?

You may arrive a few minutes before 5:00pm to get your lanyard and get to the start line for the offical start. However, you may join in the run at any time between 5:00-6:00pm. You do not have to be there right at 5:00pm to participate!

What do parents do during the Color Run?

Parents will be spectators cheering you on as you run laps! Please see the map below for areas to stand. Don't forget your camera, there will be many opportunities for some great pictures!

What should I wear ?

We suggest you wear a white t-shirt that you don't mind getting all messy! We also recommend wearing sunglasses or goggles to keep powder out of your eyes, you also look really cool when you run! Feel free to add your own style to color run outfit!
